Jen Starr Classes

September 25
All day .....  We are having a guest artist.
I've been looking for an opportunity to bring in a guest artist this fall and Jen just happened to fall into our lap.  A class cancellation on her fall tour enabled us to snag her.
Jen is a fully Certified and Ranger Recognized Instructor.  She works with well known manufacturers including 7 Gypsies, Stampers Anonymous, Faber Castell, Basic Grey and Prima.  She recently designed Tattered Angels 2012 Spring and Summer Limited Edition Glimmer Mists.
Jen has created some wonderful mixed media classes and we will be offering the following.
Life is Beautiful Gate Book
Fee: $45
This is an 8x9 chipboard gate book with flipping and folding interactive pages inside.  You will work with die cuts from both Tim Holtz and Memory Box.  You will also use Distress Inks, Gesso and Crafter's Workship Templates by Dyan Reaveley.  AND you will get to use some of Jen's favorite Glimmer Mist colors from the Spring/Summer Limited Edition collection.  The focus of this class is inky techniques and book construction.
Steampunk Montage
Fee $45
The inspiration for this double 8x10 canvas wall hanging comes from Tim Holtz.  It is full of texture, inks, stamps, Idea-ology, Sizzix dies, UTEE and more.
Imagine the Possibilities Mini-Book
Fee: $45
This little book is packed with techniques!  You will focus on an easy stitched book binding technique.  You will work with Distress Stains.  You will use Idealogy embellishments, Sticky Back canvas, Tim Holtz stamps and texture fades, fabrics and Stickles.  When done, it will be ready to be filled with photos or maybe some art journaling....

I can't think of a better way to spend a day than creating any or all of these fabulous projects.  Join us for one or all! Class size is limited to 12 and payment for class(es) is due by September 21 (checks and cash only, please).  To register call the store (405-509-6788) or email me (

New Prima in the House

New in the House
from Prima Flowers

So many new things arriving daily..... creates a lot of work for me.....opening boxes, pricing, taking photos, writing blogposts.... I'm pooped!  However, I shall keep calm and carry on!

Today I bring you Prima goodies.  Ahmazing!  Prima loveliness abounds - no disappointment here.

First up.....

A4 Paper Pads.  You know, the larger than normal, but smaller than 12x12 paper pads.  Lots of great pages packed in these.

Sweet cling and clear stamps.  Great images at an unbelievably low price!  Too many to choose from, so I got these to start with.

Junkyard Findings.  Gotta say - very interrrrrreeeeestink!  And Love Them!

Vintage Trinkets - Outstanding in the field!  I can really see some cool applications.  Wouldn't mind havin' a piece of jewlery done with these.

KEYS!  For me, the piece de resistance (ok, so I can't spell that, but I think you get my drift).  These keys are at least 2 knuckles tall (long?).  You get 7 - yes! 7 for a price of less than 80 cents each!  That's some bang for your buck!  Most keys we get?  2 bucks each!

And lastly but not leastly.....  Donna Downey's new homage to Starbucks....  Coffee to go cup canvas albums.  Check out how she used it in her cool art journal video on Inspiration Wednesday.  Made me up and buy them!  OH!  and if YOU want to recreate that art journal inspiration, we have all the other stuff used too!

Well, UPS and Fed Ex made a stop today so I'm sure I'll have more for you tomorrow.....  SO.....
Until next Post..... Happy Creatin'!

Dina Wakley's Challenge

Out  of  the  Journal
Weekly Challenge

Last week, Dina Wakley challenged her blog readers to join her in an exercise called Out of the Journal.  The challenge started this week.  You create one canvas each week during the month of August.  You can find the simple details on Dina's blog, Ponderings.  I think it is a fun idea and I have decided to play along.....  here is my Out of the Journal "canvas" for week number one.

Ok, so my canvas looks a little deep..... I had a "Luna" bar box lying around so I covered it in gesso and let the fun begin.....  It's pretty simple, but I like it.  The colors are yummy.  Here are a couple of other view.....

It's a small box....  came filled with only 6 small energy bars.  It's quite small.....

Supplies used:  Dina Wakley Grungy Silhouette stamp, Black Archival ink pad, Claudine Helmuth Studio Gesso & Paints in Modern Red, Altered Orange, Dab of Yellow & Classic Teal, Crafter's Workshop 6" templates, Dylusions numbers stamp from the Basic Backgrounds set and although it is hard to see, there is 7 Gypsies paper tape all around the edges underneath the paint.

It was fun to try something new.  Why don't you join in?  I'm pretty sure you can start with next week, or even play catchup if you want!  I'm already looking ahead to next week!

That's it for now..... Until next post..... Happy Creatin'!

What's New August 1, 2012

AUGUST  1, 2012

There are so many new items on order.  Even though Summer CHA is a smaller show than Winter, we still see more than we can even begin to put on the shelves.  A few of our pre-orders are beginning to trickle in and two of them arrived yesterday.

This is the first of our pre-orders to arrive!

Great selection of holiday stamps designed by Tim and a few sets of Stamper's Anonymous Classics chosen by Tim for release in cling.  Great job Tim!

Poetic Portraits
by Pam Carriker

A few of our friends have been telling me about Pam Carriker.  She is a mixed media artist who is very talented.  So when I saw that Stampington & Company was going to release cling stamps made from Pam's linocuts I knew I just had to order them!  To learn a bit more about Pam, head over to her website Living Art at the Speed of Light.  I'm sure you will want to grab a few of these fabulous stamps!

You may notice I was feeling a little black and white when I photo'd the stamps.  I was inspired by the black and gray backings.  Just couldn't help myself.  I'm sure my colorful self will jump back into play on the next post.  A little change is good now and then, don't you think?

There is more on the way so keep a watch.  If you don't want to check back for updates, why don't you subscribe by email?  There is a box on the left sidebar where you can enter your email address.  When there is a new post, it will arrive in your e-mailbox within a few hours!  So simple.  Why didn't I think of this sooner!

That's it for now..... Until next post..... Happy Creatin'!
