August 2017 Class Schedule

New Class Schedule

We had a relaxed and enjoyable Demo Day on Saturday.  The Make 'n Take was a hit and so easy to do.  There was little waiting and I hope those of you who visited us enjoyed it.  For those of you unable to attend, here's an up close and personal look at it!

The owl stamp and pine sprig cover a card stamp are by Impression Obsession. We used Jet Black Archival Ink to stamp the owl image on white cardstock and Orange Blossom Archival Ink to stamp the pine sprig image on orange cardstock.  The eyes became very stunning when we applied Tonic's Glitter Gold Pure Sheen.  Thanks to Lisa for helping everyone create their very cards!

On to the class schedule.  Lisa has added one more Master Page Creation class before the end of July, so if you missed the 1st one, jump in on this one.  We have 3 fun artsy classes and 3 card classes for you in August and I know one or more of them are just right for you!

Master Page Creation - Repeat
Friday, July 28th

This class is so much fun a number of people in the first one asked to have it repeated.  You will play with paint, stencils, pens and more to create an 11x17 sheet of art we call a Master Page.  You can then create a number of additional project using it or color copies of it.  In fact, the next class in the line up will use a color copy of the page you create to make it.  Check it out!.....

Master Page Canvas Fun

Whether or not you took either of the Master Page Creation classes, you can create this deep edged 6x6 canvas using copies of a Master Page Creation.  If you did not take the class, Lisa will provide you with a copy of one of hers.  If you did, bring your own copies and create a new masterpiece with your very own artwork!

Mixed Media Muse Canvas

More fun for you art journalers!  This page features a ripped page that opens to reveal a soft spot to journal thoughts or quotes.  Maura guides you through this one using stains, gesso, paint, stencils and stamps.

1 Stamp 3 Ways

Happenings in the House

Happening in the House
July 11 - 15
a little known secret!

So here's hoping that blogging becomes a thing of the now.  It has been a long time since I've posted anything but classes.  There are lots of things going on these days and lots of plans for the future. Read on my friends!

Open Studio Time - "the little known secret"

The tables here in the House often sit idle.  I thought I should let you in on a little secret...... You can use them most days of the week except during a class or special event. That's right...  most anytime.  The tables have always been available for you to use, I guess most people didn't know.....  Here are a few details you will need to know.

Is there a charge?  Not right now.  We may charge a small fee in the future when we are able to provide more supplies for you to use.

Are there any supplies you can use?  Yes, right now we have a Sizzix Big Shot available for your use.  You won't have to lug your machine up here just to make die cuts.  Our Big Shot is for everyone to use.  But you will need to bring everything else you need to work on your project.

Do you have to reserve a time?  Yes, I do need to know you are coming so I can be sure there is a cleared table available for you. Just give me a call and tell me when you expect to be here and approximately how long you expect to stay. It'll help me know how to schedule others.

How long can I stay?  You can come as early as 10:30 am.  You can work until 5 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 3 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. You must be packed up and have your purchases paid by 5:30 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or 3:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.  I need to be able to clean up and reset for the next day without disturbing you.

Can I bring a group?  Yes and if you are willing to share a table with someone else, we can seat at least 8 people (16 if you are willing to seat 4 at a table). I will need at least 2 weeks advance notice with the time and number of people you plan to bring so I can reserve the number of tables you need just for you.

Where will I find the schedule for Open Studio Time?   Currently I am sending out weekly emails with the schedule for the week. I will also have a the weekly schedule here on the blog. I'll probably put it on Facebook if you follow us there. And I will have a new website up and running soon with an interactive calendar page. You'll be able to enroll in Lisa's classes (enroll only) and see what is on the schedule for the month.  I will update it regularly as events are added.

I am excited to have shared the secret of Open Studio Time with you and hope you'll take advantage of it soon!

Class Review

Master Page Creation!

I haven't been blogging much over the last few years.  It seems that this is the best place to post the class schedule and announce guest artist workshops.  But.... I think it's time to change that.  There is always a lot happening here and it's time you heard a little crowing now and then.

Lisa is sooooo talented.  Really talented.  She is always learning new techniques and trying to bring them to the classroom.  And her students always come away with so much from her classes.

Anyhoo....  all that to say WOW!  What a class we had yesterday!

So I wanted to show you just a little taste of yesterday's Master Page Creation Part 1.  I'm hoping you'll get so excited you can convince her to put it on the schedule several more times.....

The idea is to create one large piece of artwork you can use to create many other items from.  This particular class is of the "artsy" kind.... you know, you use paints, stencils, markers and what comes out is unique to each one making the creation.  Here are a few samples of some of the "work in progress".

Each one is unique.  Most of these photos are of the beginning stages.  Lisa taught us so many wonderful things from beginning to end.  Sunday will be the Part 2 class where those who wanted to create from their "master creation" will make 3 very quick and easy items using their papers.

I am hoping Lisa will add this class to the schedule regularly.  I have already had a few who participated ask for a repeat!

Thanks for visiting the blog today.
