Gelli Cards

Ready to Gelli?  Here is your chance to begin using the printing plate that's taking the internet craft world by storm!  This class will expand your technique arsenal in a way you never thought possible.  Jump in!  Printing has never been more fun. You will need a 6x6  or 8x10 Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate (available here), a brayer and only a few of your favorite acrylic paints (Dina Wakley's acrylic paints are just perfect for this process).

Jen Starr Workshops

I am to blame for this fab group of cards.  I saw a cool idea with watercolor art on Pinterest that just sparked a card idea.  Lisa is just the best at understanding what I'm thinking and here it is....  Stamping and coloring images on top of book paper.  Maybe not totally a new idea, but man oh man.....  is this cool or what?  Just thank me by taking this class....  come on - you know you want to!

Found Creativity

Artsy, Whimsical, Bright & Bold!  That's what this creative project has going on.  You will use all kinds of product - paper, stencils, paints, sprays, tapes and more.  So much fun!

There is so much fun on June's schedule.  If you couldn't make it to Demo Day, run down soon to see the samples and enroll in the class(es) of your choice.  Heck!  Make your friends run down with you and sign up too!  The more the merrier I always say.....

June 2014 Special Workshops

Jen Starr Workshops

June 11 & 12

I am very pleased to announce that enrollments are now open for the workshops with Jen Starr on June 11 & 12th.  Jen returns for the third time and brings a whole new group of mixed media classes that you will really enjoy.  Jen has wowed us in the past and these classes promise to be just as exciting as the previous ones.    

Here's what Jen has to offer this year!

Beauty of Inka Gold

June 11 - 11 am to 12:30 pm

$45

Using a combination of some of Viva Decor's most popular product lines, you will create this 6x12 canvas in your choice of colors.  You will focus on multiple techniques using Inka Gold, 3 D Stamp Paint, Modeling Cream and Glitter Pens.  We will also be using some of the brand new Layered Dies from Tim Holtz as well as some of the newest stencils from the Crafter's Workshop.  You will need to bring a 1" flat paint brush, palette knife & heat tool.

Paint Boot Camp

June 11 - 1 pm to 5 pm

This workshop will give you the confidence to incorporate paints into any project you create - cards, scrapbooks, altered projects.  This class will give you the knowledge to use paints to their full and beautiful potential.  We will be working in 6x6 format to create a collection of reference pages for each technique.  Please bring a heat tool, pencil, ruler, variety of paint brushes, Gel Medium,  palette knife, and a container for water.

Stencil Boot Camp

June 11 - 6 pm to 9 pm

Stencils play a big part in so many mixed media projects and the creative possibilities are endless!  In this workshop we will explore some of those possibilities using a variety of techniques and mediums from Viva Decor, Ranger and Art Anthology.  We will go beyond the basics using some of Jen's favorite advanced stencil techniques.  You will create a 6x6 reference collection with instructions on the back of each page.  You will need to bring Glossy Gel Medium, heat gun, variety of paint brushes, palette knife & container for water.

Create Canvas

June 12 - 10 am to 12 noon

$45

You get to paint, crackle, and stencil this highly textured 8x12 canvas masterpiece using a variety of techniques and products from Viva Decor and the newest Jumbo floral die from Tim Holtz.  You need to bring Gel Medium, variety of paint brushes, palette knife, heat tool and a container for water.

Art House

June 12 - 1 pm to 4 pm

$50

Jen's newest class!  You will create a large 3D chipboard house from scratch and completely cover it with art!  You will paint, emboss metal & add a tinted photo transfer.  You will use a variety of products from Art Anthology and Viva Decor.  Please bring a variety of paint brushes, scissors, strong double sided tape (scor-tape or red wonder tape) and a container for water.

Mini One Page Book

Oh so cute and oh so quick.  You will make this teensy tiny book from one piece of 12x12 paper.  So sweet.

As always you will need to bring your basic kit to class....  This includes scissors, ruler, heat tool, craft sheet, pencil, black ink pad, embossing ink pad, exacto knife, tweezers & anything else you would find handy on your craft table.  These are the things that are difficult to wait for when you really need them.

We had a blast Saturday.  After a quiet start, the fun kicked in.  Lisa's Make-It-Take-It was the cutest little Easter box made from the new Tim Holtz mini matchbox die and a sweet bunny die from Impression Obsession.  Forgot to take a picture.  I'll try to post one to Facebook on Tuesday.  She released a wonderful class schedule for April too.....  and here it is!

Altered Vintage Frame

Cute new frame from Prima.....  chipboard letters, "found relatives" and a pocket watch (all from Tim Holtz)....  voila'!  Bring your own picture if Tim's found relatives don't float your boat.  Very fun!

A Whole New Doodle

Revamped and even better than before!  If you want to learn how to doodle the Homegrown Hospitality way, this is the class for you.  You will learn the basics of doodle lettering by creating in your own composition style "doodle" book.  Then you'll learn how to add details and dimensions using doodle borders, boxes & scallops.  This is just plain fun!

52 Card Pick {Me} Up

Stephanie taught the 2013 version here last year and this year brings her 2014 version to the table.  It's a whole new ball game.  You will take a deck of playing cards and create cards using a whole new style that will encourage and comfort you or someone else!  I promise you will love, love, love this class.....

You will spend time playing, experimenting, and creating one of a kind art .  You will use the popular Gelli Arts printing plate, acrylic paints, stencils and more.  If you haven't used a Gelli Plate yet, it's time you jumped in with both hands!  The art you create in this class will be used in Miscellany - Make Art From Art, Part 2 should you decide to take that class.  However, you do not have to take this class to take Part 2.

In this workshop you will spend time with Stephanie creating more art by using the art you created in Miscellany Part 1.  Didn't take that class?  No Problem!  Stephanie will share art from her own stash of art papers.....  Together you will create pieces to use in your Project Life albums, 52 Card Pick Up cards, or just to use making beautiful gifts for friends and family.

We had a great time Saturday at Demo Day.  It was very laid back and those of you who were able to come by for a visit were welcomed by some fun new supplies from Dina Wakley, Wendy Vecchi, Dyan Reaveley & Tim Holtz.

Spring in Bloom Cards

You will make 7 beautiful cards suitable for a number of occasions.  Papers used in this class are from Kaisercraft's new Spring Bloom collection and you will go home with a package of ephemera so you can create even more cards.  

Ornate Storage Unit

Lisa created the Ornate Storage Unit and also the Tool Box.  Originally only the Ornate Storage Unit was on the schedule, but interest was so high in the Tool Box, we added it.  Both are now offered on the same day and YOU get to choose which one you want to make.  The Tool Box is a little extra because there are some wooden flourishes and ephemera used on this project that aren't used on the Storage Unit.  Both projects require that you purchase the base kit from the store.

Tulip Time Canvas

Simple, yet elegant, this canvas is truly mixed media.  You will use modeling paste, stencils, paint, pan pastels, Pitt brush markers and more.  Promise you will learn a lot of technique in this class!
