Ah, now.... we just had a wonderful demo day and Lisa introduced us to a fine collection of classes for March.  Kelley Walker is teaching another one of her wonderful projects and we have a weekend workshop by Nat Kalbach of n*studio. Take a look.  I'll bet there are one or two that will catch your eye.  Then, of course, you call, email or come by to enroll.  You'll be glad you did.

SPRING/EASTER CARDS

Ah, now, who doesn't like those little "house" mouses and bunnies?  Oh, you know - you do!  These darling stamps from Stampendous will delight the littlest member of your family cuz you made them with love!  And they are easier than they look - just a little colored pencil, a few layers of paper and you are good to go!

This class combines two of Kelley's art loves: mono-printing and book binding.  This class was taught in January and is being repeated by demand!  High demand, I tell you!  You will spend the morning "Gelli" printing.  Then after a good break for lunch you will begin creating your portfolio.  It will be filled with pockets and ephemera.  So much fun to create - so much fun to fill!  Grab this opportunity while you can.

If you haven't been to one of our FREE Demo Days, you have missed a lot of fun...  We always have a free Make-It-Take-It (the one above is the most recent one) and the class samples are revealed for the next month's classes.  We always have new supplies for you to browse and sometime we even have a small sale going on.  Be sure to put this day on your calendar and bring your friends!  It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Very cool, very vintage....  altered clock frame by Prima - collage by You.  Let Lisa guide you through the creating of this very interesting altered frame using chipboard, stamps, paints, metal and embellishments.  You will need to purchase the clock (available at My Heart's Fancy).  A fun studio decoration or a great gift for one of your very vintage friends.

I am excited to bring you another guest artist - Nathalie Kalbach of n*Studio.  Nat is bringing us 3 fabulous mixed media workshops.  You can find the details here (Nat Kalbach Workshops blog post). You will want to take advantage of one or all of these!

Remember, you are required to bring your class kit to every class.  If you are new and don't have one, let us know and we will help you put one together.  

Class fees are due at the time of enrollment. You may pay by cash or check in the store or via Paypal if unable to pay in person.   Unpaid enrollments are bumped when classes are full, so don't lose your seat by forgetting to "pony up".

A year or so ago I was studying the new Stampendous rubber stamp catalog and saw 3 new lucious "texture" stamp sets.  I had to order them right away as they were(are!) intriguing.  They were created from designs by Nathalie Kalbach (who is known simply as Nat) of N*Studio.  If you are unfamiliar with Nat, visit her blog/website N*Studio.  In addition to being an amazing mixed-media artist, she is a Liquitex Ambassador, organizer of Creative Jump Start, stencil designer for Stencil Girl, & stamp designer for Stampendous.

Monoprinting

Friday, MARCH 27

In this monoprinting class you will explore the possibilities of making your own personal mark in your artwork by creating wonderful prints with different tools, stamps, stencils & techniques.  

Learn how to create your own patterned paper which can later be used in art journals, collages, mixed media canvases and all other kinds of paper art.  You will need a Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate (available at My Heart's Fancy if you need one).  Whether you are a new or seasoned monoprinter, this is a great class for you!

Mixed Media Collage

In this one-day workshop, Nathalie will share her favorite techniques to create background papers using paints, stencils and stamps.    Layered up, it will turn into a fun Mixed Media Collage.  Create a whimsical or abstract focal point, depending on your taste.  

Nat will share her fun and easy peasy collage techniques, talk a bit about composition and make a sticky business turn into a creative new passion for you.

I am really looking forward to this group of workshops.  Nat brings a whole new style to mixed media and I can't wait to learn a whole new way of creating!

Ah! Demo Day!  It brings such fun and laughter.  This past Saturday was no different.  We laughed and enjoyed helping friends to create this stunning Halloween card for our Make-It-Take-It.  One of our best.... don't you think?

The class schedule for August is brimming with wonderful classes.  Lisa created a wonderful assortment of card classes and projects and Kelley Walker will repeat her "Gelli Print - Long Stitch" class by popular demand.  So without further ado....  here are the descriptions!

Botanical Tea Tag Book

July 31st OR August 1st

Graphic 45's new Botanical Tea is taking the paper art world by storm and this project is worthy of your time.  Join Lisa as she leads you through the steps she used to create this beautiful staggered tag book that can be used as a mini photo album.

Silks & Distress Cards

Watercolor on kraft cardstock with Distress Markers and Dylusions sprays, then add Silk acrylic glazes and you have a recipe for stunning....  stunning cards that is!  

All About Nature Canvas

Gelli Printing is all the rage right now!  It's so versatile and once you get started, it's so hard to stop.  Guaranteed fun and no two prints are alike!  Lisa taught this class in June and has been asked several times when she is going to do it again.... and it's now!  You will need a gelli plate.  Don't have one and not sure which size to get?  Fear not, Lisa will help you decide which size is best for you.  Then you can start having more fun than you ever imagined.

Our Demo Day is a regular event on the 3rd Saturday of the month.  It's a place to meet your friends and even make some new ones!  We always have a quick Make-It-Take-It for you and Lisa's class schedule is on display for the next month.  If you haven't been, make a point to join us this month.  You'll be glad you did!

Die-Cut Extravaganza

August 21st OR 22nd

Die cut cards are quite popular and this class will have you creating amazingly beautiful cards using layers of die-cut designs.  You will also make the beautiful box which will hold your cards in style from 2 pieces of 12x12 paper.  Your box will be adorned with a beautiful flower you will create using Tim Holtz's Jumbo Tattered Floral Die, glitter and more.  A wonderful gift... Lots of fun to make!

Gelli-Print Long-Stitch

This two part class is an all day extravaganza.  Kelley taught this class a couple of weeks ago and it has gotten quite a lot of attention.  You'll print in the morning (no experience required) and after a quick lunch break return to learn a wonderful "long-stitch" style of book binding.  You can see what the students created in the last class on Kelley's blog "One January Day".  Class includes the use of a Gelli Plate if you don't have one, all paper and book making supplies as well as the use of Dina Wakley's new paints.  

Distress Style Organizer

Kaisercraft has a great collection of organizers for your studio.  Lisa has chosen this desk organizer to assemble and decorate with papers from Tim Holtz's Wallflower Paper Collection.  You will absolutely love this piece.  You will need to purchase the organizer from the store.

We've got a full schedule for August.  I think it's safe to say that there is something for everyone and you'll enjoy every minute of any class you choose to take.  You can make reservations  by emailing Lisa (lbruno7754@aol.com), calling the store (509-6788) or if you want to see the samples in person, come on by.  We can sign you up on the spot!  Remember payment of class fees is required to hold your seat in class.  Some classes have more limited numbers due to space needed to create so be sure you enroll early!

I am so excited to have Donna back to teach 4 new ah-mazing classes.  Last year was such a treat and Donna has so much to share with us this year.  Donna's trademark word is "Inspire" and that is just what she is going to do for you!  Here are the Ah-Mazing classes she is bringing to you.....

PAINT LIKE AN ARTIST - STENCIL

Friday March 1st  -  4 pm to 9 pm

Want to paint but don't know where to start?  You will create your very own 16x20 canvas in this awesome 5 hour workshop.  Donna will walk you step by step from start to finish and guess what?  NO  SKILLS  NEEDED!  Can I get a deep sigh of relief?  Using stencils (lots and lots of them) and acrylic paints you will learn how to use color to create depth and texture.  Then you will learn how to isolate pieces of your background design to build your design in the foreground.  You will leave this class Painting Like an Artist!

techniques in COLOR

Saturday, March 2 - 9 am to 11 am

Love color?  Afraid to use it?  Fear no more!  In this 2 hour workshop, Donna will teach you how to work with multiple mixed-media layers of color.  You will learn a bit of color theory and use lots of cool products to create a beautiful mixed-media canvas.  You will use gelatos, pastel pencils, PITT big brush pens, PanPastels and more!

PanPastel Painting

Saturday, March 2 - 12 pm to 5 pm

Learn how to use PanPastels to create 3 12x12 Pastelbords in this 5 hour workshop.  Whether you have dabbled with PanPastels or have just thought about it, you will learn a few tricks.  All you need is the desire to create and play.  Donna will bring samples of her very own PanPastel art to use as models for your own creation.  She will teach you about the tools, as well as demonstrate how to sketch, draw and transform simple designs into dynamic and colorful pieces of art.  No previous PanPastel experience is required.  Get ready to learn a whole new way of expressing your inner artist!

This 3 hour workshop is designed to guide you through the multi-layers building of an original mixed-media 6x18" canvas.    A simple color palette, tags, modeling paste, gesso, tapes, fabric, and paper elements will be used to create a beautiful, textural piece of artwork celebrating strength and beauty.  Tap into your inner artist and watch your blank canvas transform into an amazing collage!

Registration Details

You can register by email (maura@myheartsfancyok.com) or by phone (405-509-6788).  Registration is not limited at this time.  If classes are too large for our classroom or an empty space in the shopping center, I will find a place nearby that is large enough.  Donna is happy teaching 5 people or 100 people.  Prepayment for classes is the only way to reserve your seat in the classes you want.  You will receive a PayPal invoice by email within 48 hours after notifying me about the classes you want to take.  Please take the time to complete the transaction as soon as possible.

Out of Town Students

There are a number of quality hotels within 2-3 miles of our location.  They include all of the Marriott properties, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and La Quinta.  If you are booking online, look for hotels in the "Quail Springs Shopping Center" area (northwest Oklahoma City).

I am truly excited about these classes.  I know you will enjoy them and learn an enormous amount from each one of them.
