January 2024

Classes

We had a very busy but fun Preview Day on Saturday.  The Make 'n Take did go faster than last month and for that I am very grateful.  Cherri sat in for Adona.  We missed Adona.  Her 60th birthday was last week and her brothers were celebrating with her during the week.  Happy Birthday Adona!!

This is the sweet Make 'n Take.  We used a snowman die from Memory Box.  We have a few left and you should get one if you want it. Apparently I bought all of the stock, because it is no longer available.

Lisa brought us a complete class schedule for January and I know you'll love everything.  We have a guest artist for Art Journal Saturday.  More on that when you read the description.  It's really a fun one and you'll learn a lot.

Here's the January 2024 Schedule!

Valentine Hearts - $35
Thursday, Jan 4th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and will be here before you know it!  These cards are perfect for good friends and family and as Lisa put it "The Love of Your Life".  You'll enjoy using the beautiful Simple Vintage Love Story paper collection by Simple Stories.  The hearts for 3 of the cards are by Memory Box and the 4th heart is from Impression Obsession.  You will be using a wonderful 3D embossing folder from Altenew as well.

Graphic 45 Calendar Box - $45
Thursday, Jan 11
10:30 am OR 6 pm

What a project!  Graphic 45's latest "Life is Abundant" calendar collection is a wonderful nature paper.  Lisa has created a storage box for the monthly calendar pockets that also displays the current month.  You'll have lots of fun making this project and enjoy using it for many years. This would make a wonderful gift.  There will be wonderful scraps for card making or use in an art journal as ephemera.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, Jan 13
9 am OR 1:30 pm

This month we have a guest artist teacher!  One of our favorite Art Journal Saturday students, Lauren Bear, is an amazing art journaler.  She has filled so many art journals in the short time we have known her and she has learned so many amazing techniques. A few weeks ago she was flipping through her journal and landed on a similar journal page to the one shown here.  I was so taken with it that I asked if she would teach it and she agreed.  You will absolutely enjoy creating your own version of this one.  It's not as complicated as it looks and I know we can all do it!  The top photo shows an altered acetate piece.  The underlying page shown in the lower photo is a fun collage/master page style page when peeks through the image on the acetate.  Come learn how to create your very own version of this really fun technique.

Winter Master Page Fun - $35
Thursday, Jan 18
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Lisa and I discovered a very wonderful technique using acrylic inks.  It just seemed natural to use it to create a Master Page.  Such a fun way to learn how to use those curious acrylic inks. These backgrounds are so quick and easy to make.  Then you can use your originals or make copies to use for background layers in cardmaking, collage fodder for art journaling (or even cards!).  It will be fun to learn something new!!
