Samantha and I have been talking about an abstract floral class for a while.  We finally settled on a date and here's the scoop!

Spend your Saturday morning with Samantha as we create abstract florals using gel plates and original collage.  If you can tear paper and paste it to a surface, you can take this class!  Experienced creators will totally enjoy this class too!

First we'll create unique collage paper using monoprinting techniques on gel plates.  (Monoprinting is a fancy term for printing one color at a time also known as "one pass" printing).  Next we'll use our original collage paper to shape flowers and leaves.  Finally, we'll compose our very own abstract florals for you to enjoy.

Supplies students need to bring:

• 20+ sheets of 8.5"x11" papers - any printer paper weight paper you have on hand including but not limited to "trash" papers, book papers, drawing papers, junk mail.  Avoid heavy papers such as scrapbook paper.
• Acrylic Paint - any color will do, but if you want, stick to natural colors such as greens (leaves and stems), pinks, blues, peaches, yellows (flowers).  You don't have to use traditional/natural colors.
• Brayer - consider bringing one for paint and one for flattening your collage work.
• Gel Plate - My Heart's Fancy has at least 10 to share if you don't have one.
• Scissors - Fussy cut.  
• Glue stick such as UHU (MHF will provide some to share)
• Your favorite substrate - Canvas, paper, art journal, Bristol, canvas board, cradle board
• Black waterproof pen.
• Texture stamps - your favorite.  MHF will have some to share.
• Stencils & masks - your favorite - MHF will have some to share.

These items are necessary to accurately follow along, but you should use the products that make you happy.  All items needed can be purchased here at My Heart's Fancy.  Please call the store at 405-509-6788 if you have questions about the supplies. 

ENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN!  You may enroll by phone, email, or in person.  Class Fees are due at the time of enrollment.  If you have made a reservation by phone or email, you must make payment within 48 hours to reserve your place in class.  You may pay by cash, check or credit card in the store or by Paypal if unable to come by in person.

Demo Day was fun even though it was cold.  Nick's Tamales arrived at noon and served up the best tamales ever!  If you haven't yet had one, you must try one.  Girl Scouts set up at Fashion Lion.  It was a great day!  Our FREE Make 'n Take was a hit.  We used Oxide Ink Pad reinkers to create a wonderful background for a card.  Check it out!.....

We applied oxide reinkers on glossy cardstock using a brayer, buffed it when dry and then sparkle embossed the word blessed on top.

Lisa has a big schedule for March.  I know you'll find a class that will make you happy.  Cards, Gel Printing and mini shadow boxes.  Such fun!  So here's the schedule.....

EXPLORING OXIDES

Lisa expands the Make 'n Take card by using the technique on multiple types of papers.  You'll make a large variety of backgrounds and then create a few cards using your favorites.  You'll have enough left-overs to create more cards or use in other mixed media projects.

ART JOURNAL SATURDAY

Bring your art journal and let's have fun.  Let us guide you through the creation of this art journal page.  We provide most of the materials needed to complete your page.  No two people will create the exact page as you have many choices of paint colors, stencils and various supplies.

GELLI PRINT PLAY

Mono printing is all the rage.  Come learn how to use a Gel Printing Plate to create amazing background prints which can be used for all kinds of collage and creative art.  You'll create a large number of prints using paint, stencils and rubber texture plates.  The next class on the schedule uses the prints you make to create a wonderful art journal.

GELLI PRINT ART JOURNAL

Bring those Gelli prints you made in class Sunday and create this fun art journal with them.  I promise you'll enjoy creating in this journal more than any other as the pages are already started - no blank white page staring you in the face!

Remember Shrinky Dinks?  We now offer shrink plastic that can be run through an ink jet printer!  Lisa will have the images already printed on the shrink for you but after you make these 2 projects, you'll want to make more!  Imagine making shrink art bracelets and more!  This class will be fun so be sure to get in on the fun!

Oh the weather outside was frightful....  but the Demo Day was delightful!  We had a lot of fun visiting with those who braved the cold and the wind.  We made this fun card wich could be used for a Valentine, but clearly would be good for any occasion.  We did sell out of the stamps, but would be happy to order them for you.

This is the cutest art journal ever....  It's even small enough to carry around in your purse to play in on the go.  Use your Master Page from the Master Page with a Twist class (or any other Master Page class you have taken).  Don't have a master page?  Lisa will be happy to provide a copy of hers for your to use.  The cover is ink jet printed on Ranger's Sticky Back Canvas and you will receive a piece when you sign up.  If you don't have an ink jet printer, Lisa will copy yours.  *** $5 upcharge for either a copy of your paper or Lisa's paper.

Master Page Inspirational Canvas

Here's another project for your Master Page!  We have started stocking Cradled Wood "canvases" and Lisa has used one to create this really fun project using small bits from one of her Master Pages.  She's included a heart in the hand "clip" and if you prefer, you can tuck a photo in the clip. A unique gift using your own unique paper.  If you don't have a Master Page, Lisa will provide the bits you need from one of hers.

Watercolor Cards

Come play in the class where you will learn a variety of watercolor styles and use a variety of watercolor products.  You'll use Hero Liquid Watercolors, Clean Color Watercolor Markers and Stabilo Woody water soluable pencils.  You'll use new floral stamps from My Favorite Things.  Oh the fun of experimentation!

Floral Whimsey Canvas Trio

You will make three 6x6 canvas that can work alone or together.  You'll use papers, paints, stencils, modeling paste, Oxide Inks and Posca Pens as well as stamps from a brand new collection from RubberMoon Stamps.  You'll practice old and new techniques so be sure to sign up for this one!

Master Page DIY Art Journal

Use the Master Page you created in the Master Page with a Twist class or any other Master Page you have created in the past.  The Master Page is copied on an inkjet sticky-backed canvas which is used to create the cover of the art journal. The art journal will have 22 pages of mixed media paper (46 usable surfaces).  The sticky back canvas will be provided so you can make your copy.  ***If you do not have an inkjet printer and need Lisa to copy your Master Page, there will be an additional $5 charge.***

Enrollment is now open for this add-on class.  Call or come by to see the sample and enroll.

We always have a great time on Demo Day.  Saturday was no exception.  We had cookies and this fabulous Make 'n Take designed by Lisa.

Detail is tough to see in this photo.  We used our new line of Pebeo irridescent acrylic paint, the gel plate, Tim Holtz's new Kaleidoscope 3-D Texture Fade, Valentine greetings by My Favorite Things, and a heart stamp created by Art by Marlene for Studio Light.  Here's one more photo showing the detail of the Kaleidoscope Texture Fade....

It was fun visiting with everyone who came by.  Lisa has one more class to add and I'm sure it'll be here just after Christmas.  My Art Journal Saturday sample wasn't quite ready, but it should be out by the end of next week.

Sweet Valentines

You'll create 5 sparkly, die cut cards including one of the most requested cards Lisa added to her card classes - the stand up card.  You'll used lots of ultra fine glitter paper, stamps and dies and a brand new paper we now carry called Curious Cosmic in both Gold Ray and Pulsar Red.

Bring your art journal and join us as we create something new every month.  Lisa and I rotate guiding this fun class where you create exactly what you want using the sample provided.  You can copy or create your own version of the sample.  We provide most of the supplies used to create the sample.  Not only do we have lots of fun, we all teach each other!

Valentine Sussy

This Valentine is truly a sussy!  What's a "sussy" you ask?  A sussy is a fun way to say surprise.....  and what a surprise this will be when the recipient opens it up!  This "card" opens in unique ways and carries a plethera of unique pockets and places for you to add special Valentine messages.

Master Page with a Twist

Master Page is one of our most popular classes.  Lisa offers it for many of the holiday occasions and then creates a class revolving around your creations.  This month she gives it a new spin with a new kind of black art paper.  It's fun to see how the paints respond differently to the black base.  We love this "twist" a lot......

Demo Day was a blast Saturday.  Lisa's "short" class schedule made it's debut.  While there are only 2 classes, they are both wonderful and I know you'll want to do both of them.  We made a really cute Make 'n Take.

I wish everyone could come to Demo Day.  That's totally unrealistic, but wouldn't it be crazy fun?  Anyhoo.....  we had fun making this really cute mini paper bag using 2 Tim Holtz Halloween Dies....  We still have a few left and there is time before Halloween to get little "party favors" or "you're a great friend" gifts.....

Lisa's class schedule is outstanding and we have Chris Mack returning to teach how to make those cute fans she made for Lisa and me!

Penny Black creates a wonderful selection of watercolor images Lisa has learned to use to create these cards using real watercolor.  Faux merely refers to the simple technique that will have you creating masterpieces that look like you are a watercolor artist who has studied for many years.  These cards are beautiful and your friends will be complimenting you on your talent!

Chris is one of our very talented customers who often brings us wonderful gifts she has made.  The most recent gift was one of these beautiful fans.  One thing led to another and at the request of a few excited students, she agreed to teach this as a class.  You bring 12x12 or 9x12 cardstock to use in making your very own fans.  This is perfect for a master page, favorite scrapbook paper, and marbled or gel printed papers.

Mixed Media Fold-Over Journal

Are you addicted to Traveler's Journals?  Lisa has taken 2 fabulous ideas and combined them into one!  You'll create a miniature Master Page and turn it into a sturdy miniature journal using a die from Eileen Hull by Sizzix.  It will hold a pair of mini composition books and a bit of watercolor/art paper for you to create in on the go!  Also makes a great gift.

GR45 "Flutter" Tag Book

Everyone loves a book made using Graphic 45 paper.  Using the newest paper collection called "Flutter", you will create this wonderful tag book that is perfect for photos and memory notes.  There are pockets and mini tags tucked inside!

Class Details

Class Fees:  Class fees are due at the time of enrollment.  You can pay by cash or check in store or Lisa is happy to send a Paypal invoice.  If she is in the store, she accepts credit cards for her class fees.  Guest Artist fees can be paid to the store by cash, check, credit card and by Paypal if you are unable to come by in person.

Class Kit:  All students are required to bring a kit of basic paper crafting tools.  These are generally things that are difficult to share because when you need it, you need it.  If you don't know what you should have in your kit, give me a call or come by for a list.
