August 2024

Class Schedule

Preview Day was a blast.  Have I said that before?  I bet I have.  It was raining when we opened, but that didn't stop anyone from coming.  We had a crowd from the beginning. Lisa was unable to be with us and Adona was also off.  Tammy stepped in for Adona, my friend Sharon stepped in for Lisa in the morning and our friend Cherri stepped in for Lisa in the afternoon.  While none of them are Lisa or Adona, all went well and I hope they will be happy to sub in again.  We missed Lisa, but I must say those girls all stepped up to the plate with style and I was glad to have them!

I forgot to get a picture of the Make 'n Take but I will post one on Facebook.   We used a cute watermelon stamp and die from Atenew that coordinated well with a 12x12 watermelon paper from Echo Park.

Lisa's class schedule for August is very nice.  We had hoped our fall paper from Echo Park would arrive in time  to create an Autumn class, but that's OK because the classes we do have are outstanding.  Several of the classes are getting full, so don't wait if you want to take them.

Here's the schedule.....

Cups & Blooms - $35
Thursday, August 1
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Penny Black recently released a new batch of stamps and dies.  Lisa has used the teacups and several of the floral stamps to create these cards.  You get to practice your watercolor techniques in this class and you'll love the results.  The teacups have a vintage style but the vivid colors used give it a wonderful non-vintage feel. These cards are perfect for any occasion.

"My Friends and I" - $35
Thursday, August 8
10:30 OR 6 pm

Megan Quinlan had a popup shop recently with ArtFoamies.  We have a special arrangement to be able to purchase these foamies for the store to sell.  We love Megan's art journals and the foamies are created from fun images in her art journals.  These cards remained unfinished at the time this schedule was published because we discovered too late that the papers Lisa chose are no longer available. Soooooo..... we ordered other papers which are on the way.  We expect them to be here and the cards completed by August 1st.  I'll replace this picture as soon as that happens but you might want to enroll as soon as possible because this class is already filling fast!

Moonlit Garden Envelope Folio
Thursday, August 15
10:30 am OR 6 pm

49 and Market has a beautiful collection called Moonlit Garden.  It has a lovely vintage feel that uses beautiful images of birds, butterflies and flowers.  This sweet folio is made using envelopes and has a variety of uses.  There is a fold in flap on both the front and back cover that would be perfect for a large photo. The back side of the flap has a pocket.  The pages under the flaps have a fun pocket made from heavy acetate that would be sweet with a photo and keepsakes tucked inside.  This little folio could be the perfect traveling brag book!

Join us for the preview of the September classes!  Enjoy a FREE Make 'n Take and browse the latest products that have arrived in the store.  Grab a friend and share the fun!

Hedgehog Wild - $35
Thursday, August 22
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Penny Black is known for their hedgehog images and they just released the cutest stamp set of hedgies for birthday and all occasion.  Who doesn't love a hedgehog?  Lisa has combined these images with bright colors and you'll have cards that will work for all ages!  She's also used a variety of new dies and embossing folders from Penny Black.  You'll love making these cards for everyone on your card list!

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, August 24
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Yep!  WIP (work in progress).  It's Maura's turn to teach and it is sooo close to being finished.  The sample should be ready for the public by Saturday, July 27 which is July's Art Journal Saturday and I'll update the photo as soon as possible.  However, what you see in this picture are the elements being used.  We'll make watercolor stamped tissues for several parts of this spread, magazine images, window envelopes (start saving some!) and stenciling.  It's going to be fun!

That's the schedule for now.... Lisa says there is a Fall and a Technique Tag Class coming soon so get ready for that in early September.  Here are a few more things you need to know about classes.

jUNE 16 2024

July 2024

Class Schedule

I can't believe that it is time to publish the July Class Schedule!  This year is passing by so quickly.  Anyhoo..... what a great Preview Day!  Even though it was Father's Day weekend and June is a heavy vacation month, we were pretty busy.  The FREE Make 'n Take was a hit.  Check it out!

We used 3 stamp sets and a die set from Impression Obsession to create the card.  Cherri made the sample and she did a great job!  Lisa always does a wonderful job guiding everyone.  She is an outstanding teacher and I think she is so patient and helpful.  I hope you'll be excited to take one or all of her classes in July!

The July schedule is a little more relaxed than usual.  We won't have a class the week of the 4th of July because, guess what?!  Thursday that week IS the 4th of July!  And we will have had 2 classes the week before so I think that says it all!  LOL  So here is the July schedule.....

Independence Day Holiday
Thursday, July 4th
Store closed on Thursday
No class this week

All About the "Bees" -  $35
Thursday, July 11
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Oh my gosh!  We found the cutest stamp set as well as stencils from Impression Obsession.  It really sparked Lisa's creativity and then she found a stamp set from Catherine Pooler and grabbed that limited edition bee stamp from IndigoBlu to create the cutest set of cards ever...  I think the die on the card at the back of the photo is from Altenew but I'll know for sure when Lisa gives the the list of products used so I can make sure we have it in stock by the time class rolls around!

Floral Variety - $35
Thursday, July 18th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

You know Lisa has a "thing" for flower and birds.  This card class really does show off that love.  New stamps from Penny Black, Altenew and Impression Obsession round out this collection.  The wreath die is from Impression Obsession as well.  AND if you look closely, you can see Tim Holtz's new "tape" stickers in there too!

Alcohol Ink Fun - $35
Thursday, July 25
10:30 am OR 6 pm

It's been a while since Lisa pulled out the alcohol inks, but I think now is the time!  Lot's of fun techniques here!  We have 3 dies from Memory Box and a stamp/die set from Hero in this class along with a fun stencil (which I can't quite identify as I write this! hee! hee!).  Alcohol Inks are such an interesting product and really quite fun to use.  I think you'll enjoy making these cards and learning a few different ways to use this artform for cards.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, July 27
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Two pics for you of such a fun spread!  Lisa will be teaching this one.  There's a little house that opens up to a pocket that can hold anything you want.  This spread features ArtFoamies in very interesting ways.  We'll have plenty of other size trees for you to choose from if you're using a smaller journal, but you can certainly use the big tree in different ways in smaller books as well.

June 2024
Class Schedule

Saturday was such a lovely Preview Day.  I know many of you had a lot on your schedule and were unable to make it by.  The Make 'n Take was a hit.  We used a couple of stamps and a die from the IndigoBlu Limited Edition Magazine Box.  We sold out of the Magazine Boxes but I was able to order a few more and we should have at least 3 available after I fill the orders. Cherri designed the Make 'n Take for us this month.  Thanks Cherri!

The Magazine box is really quite a bargain.  For just $22 you get a magazine filled with samples and ideas for the stamps, dies, stencil and design papers that are included with the magazine.  I am pretty sure IndigoBlu will be sold out within the next week or so.

Lisa has a fun schedule for June.  Her last class for May is listed here as it is next week.  If you didn't make it by, be sure to get enrolled in store by 5 pm this Thursday or online by 5pm on Monday.

Here's the schedule!

A Bit of Fancy - $35
Thursday, May 30
10:30 am OR 6 pm

This is the last class for May and these cards are absolutely beautiful. Each one has that "touch of fancy" that gives them a little something extra going on.  There are stamps from Catherine Pooler, Penny Black, and IndigoBlu.  An added bonus for this class is a card made using Spellbinders new tool called the BetterPress LetterPress.  It is an accessory that works with most die cutting machines and it presses an inked metal plate into watercolor or cotton rag paper.  This is the first time we have been able to add a card using it to a class since we introduced it in our store.  I think you'll agree the effects are definately "A Bit of Fancy"!

Man Card Master Page - $35
Thursday, June 6th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Man cards!  Everyone needs them and almost no one has one when they need one.... Am I right?  And with Father's Day right around the corner, this class couldn't have been better timed!  This class will be fun!  You'll create a big master page with colors suitable for a man.   Lisa has used a great new stamp set from Tim Holtz with a wonderful vintage touch. You'll make the three cards shown and have paper left over for several more.

Whimsy ArtFoamies Fun - $35
Thursday, June 13
10:30 am OR 6 pm

ArtFoamies just introduced the 3rd in a series of 4 Calendar Girls!  This collaboration between Megan Quinlan (one of our new favorite artists) and Kae Pea of ArtFoamies has been quite popular.  Each set comes with 2 bodies, 2 heads and 2 accessory foamies.  This one has a body with moth wings and a body with butterfly wings.  There is also an accessory ArtFoamie set with a set of legs, arms, 2 more wings, 2 head piece accessories and a small banner.  I know you'll have fun using these to create these little artful paper dolls on a stand.  So much fun to use to decorate your studio!

ArtFoamies and Stencil Creations - $35
Thursday, June 20
10:30 am OR 6 PM

This card class combines two very fun things - ArtFoamies and stencils!  Each uses a stencil, ArtFoamie or a combination of both.  It's amazing how many different looks you can get when you play with art tools!  You'll use watercolors and more to create these.  And the more you play with ArtFoamies, the more fun you have!

Master Page Create - $35
Thursday, June 27
10:30 am OR 6 pm

This is again, one of our most popular classes.  You get to play with all of Lisa's stencils, mark making stamps and paints! Who wouldn't want to do that?!  There is no right or wrong, just fun!  Seriously, you can't mess it up and when you are finished, you have a large piece of art just ready to use in creating so many artsy things.  They are also excellent papers to use in your scrapbooks!

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, June 29
9 am OR 1:30 pm

And speaking of popular!.....  This class (sorry, sample was not available when writing this post) is a popular class as well.  It's also a bargain!  Your class fee covers the cost of the materials used in this class.  We make no money on this class.  You bring your basic crafting kit and an art journal or surface to work on.  There is no perfect size art journal or surface as the sample can be adapted to any size. We provide all the rest of the supplies in all the colors or types available.  We'll guide you through the steps we used to create the sample and you'll make your own version that will be uniquely yours!

May 2024

Class Schedule

Saturday was Preview Day and Lisa's class schedule for May was revealed with gusto!  We all had a great time and our FREE Make 'n Take was a hit.  It was a simple but elegant card appropriate for many occasions including sympathy, thinking of you, or just a note! Check it out!

We used a die set called "Framed Wings" by Catherine Pooler, a script background by Penny Black and a sentiment from the Mommy & Me stamp set by Catherine Pooler.  The ink colors for the background stamp was WinterMint and the splatter was Sea Glass - both by Catherine Pooler.

As usual, Lisa's class schedule is really nice.  With 2 card classes and 2 mixed media classes, I think you'll find a class or two you can't pass up!

Here's what's on the schedule for May......

Art Girls House Accordian Book - $40
Thursday, May 2
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Mixed Media accordian books have come back around in popularity recently.  This house style is so cute and fun.  You'll be using ArtFoamies, stamps, papers, paints and more to create this book.  It folds up fairly flat and is easy to display.  You'll enjoy making it so much that you'll want to make even more.  These would be fun to do with your kids or grandkids.  The price for this class reflects the amount of kitting needed and that it will take a bit longer to create than most other classes.

Beauty in Nature - $35
Thursday, May 9
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Penny Black has always had a selection of "brush" images in their stamp collection.  These stamps make it easy to use watercolor techniques to make them look like you watercolored them from scratch without a stamp.  You will learn two techniques.  One uses an ink pad and regular watercolors and the other uses Dina Wakley's Scribble Sticks.  You'll enjoy learning both techniques!

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, May 11
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Lisa's sample for May's Art Journal Saturday was not quite ready for Preview Day on the date we published this blog post.  It should be ready by week's end.  It's scheduled a little earlier than usual but the store will be closed on the 25th for the Memorial Day weekend holiday.  This is our bargain class and sponsored by the store.  We guide you through the creation of your own unique interpretation of the sample we provide.  We teach you the steps we used but you get to choose the colors, stamps and/or stencils of your choice.  It's fun and helps to inspire your creativity.  No two spreads will be alike and it's so much fun to see how everyone else's art looks.  You'll learn as much from your table mates as you do from us!

Affirmation Cards in a Tin #2 - $35
Thursday, May 16
10:30 am OR 6 pm

April's Affirmation Cards in a Tin was such a success that Lisa was asked for more!  April's featured gel prints made in the class the week before and this one will feature a type of watercolor master page.  A tin is included with your class and there will be more tins available for purchase.  These cards are fun to give to family, friends and strangers who are having a bad day and need a little encouragement.  If you missed the first one, this one will be just as much fun.

Wildflower Blooms - $35
Thursday, May 23
10:30 am OR 6 pm

The most recent release from Tim Holtz is really amazing.  Lisa fell in love with the "Forgotten Garden" stamp set and created these 4 beautiful cards.  You'll use a variety of inks, pens and pencils to create these amazing all occasion cards!

Classes

Wow!  What a Preview Day we had on Saturday!  We had such a good time and our FREE Make 'n Take was definately a hit.  I have been eyeing the Spellbinders BetterPress LetterPress accessory for a while and finally decided to take the plunge and bring one in for a test spin.  Was I blown away by the detail and look of the impression the plates make.  I didn't have time to get any instore before Preview Day, but we took orders and I'll be placing that order immediately as a lot of our makers were also impressed.  If you didn't have a chance to come by Saturday, let me know next time you come in and I'll let you test it out for yourself.  In any case, here is the card we made for the Make 'n Take.....

Lisa has a GREAT class schedule for you in April.  I am sure there is at least one class you'll want to take and probably more. This schedule is a little heavy on cards, but every one of them is worth taking.  I think you'll have a hard time ruling any of them out.

Faded Circles Backgrounds - $35
Thursday, April 4
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Bokeh made simple for cards!  Bokeh is that photography term for the light sparkles that sometimes show up in your photos.  You may have seen it as an application for your phone camera or the editing apps.  Lisa is teaching a new background that takes circles to the "bokeh" and you are going to love these cards.  They are a little bit dreamy and I think your friends and family will be impressed with your new skill!

Stencil Possibilities - $35
Thursday, April 11
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Lisa used new geometric "window" stencils (and masks) in the Fun Kid's Card class and she is using them again in this class in a few different ways.  These stencils from Impression Obsession are quite versatile and I think you'll enjoy learning the new ways you can create with them.  We also received a few new Pooh (and Piglet) stamps from Impression Obsession that you'll be using as well.  I think you'll agree that these cards are fun and easy to make.

Mini Mixed Media Tag Book - $35
Thursday, April 18
10:30 OR 6 pm

Oh my goodness!  This tiny "art journal" notebook is so stinking cute.  Lisa was inspired by the 100 day art challenge but like me, just can't commit to 100 days.  She started thinking how she could participate without the commitment of 100 days.  Well, this little art journal is perfect.  Get ready to create a simple tag book with mixed media paper inside that can double as a notebook as well as an art journal.  You'll create a cover using a #10 tag and Distress Oxide sprays.  If time allows, you may even be able to create a little art inside before the class is over.

Mother's Day, Birthday or Any Day Cards - $35
Thursday, April 25
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Create these wonderful cards that are perfect for just about any occasion.  Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, any of these cards could fill the bill! You'll use stamps, watercolor and a beautiful new 3D embossing folder.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, April 27
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Art Journaling is so much fun and even more fun when you get to spend time creating with other artists.  This is our bargain class where we guide you through the process used to create the sample art Lisa or I (Maura) created.  You bring the art journal and a basic art kit and we provide the rest.  Every color or style of the products we used are provided and no two art journal pieces will be the same.

That's the schedule for April.  Here are a few more details.

March 2024
Class Schedule

We had a very busy Preview Day last Saturday.  It was certainly a lot of fun and everyone seemed to be having a good time.  The Make 'n Take was a sweet Spring Card using a stamp set by Hero Arts and paper from the Love Notes collection by Echo Park.

This time we had enough paper to create some kits that contained enough precut card stock, A2 greeting card and envelope for purchase.  We sold out of those kits but I believe I have enough card stock to create about 5 more sets which will be packed and available with the stamp set and instructions on Thursday.

Lisa has a fun class schedule this month.  I finally got the Art Journal Sample for this month done and you have until Friday noon to enroll as it will be taught Saturday.

Here's Lisa's schedule!

Leaf Print Cards - $35
Thursday, March 7
10:30 am OR 6 pm

There are a lot of cards in this class!  But they are beautiful and and each card has a unique look.  She is using 2 different stamp sets from Altenew that make dreamy cards.  She is also using Distress Oxide Inks, Cosmic Shimmer watercolors and Catherine Pooler's new Gold Ink Pad.  You'll learn a lot and have a lot of fun in this class!

Fun Kid Cards - $35
Thursday, March 14
10:30 am OR 6 pm

There has been some interest in cards for the littles in your life and these cards will bring a smile to kids of any age (including your elders!)  These bright and colorful cards are made using a variety of mediums and new stencils from Impression Obsession.  The stamps are from a new company we have added to the inventory this year called AALL & Create.

Gel prints are versatile and have a variety of uses including card backgrounds, collage fodder and handmade books. The class the following week uses gel prints and you will definately have a good time putting them to use. You don't have to be an artist to make these prints.  All you need is a spirit of adventure!

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, March 23
9 am OR 1:30 pm

This is our bargain class.  The class fee covers the cost of the products we use in each class and there is no instructor fee added.  This is a class that Lisa and I share teaching.  We get to create art for the sake of art.  It's fun for us and it helps us learn how to use the products found around the store.  We guide you through the process we used and you get to experience what we learned along the way.  You bring an art journal, canvas or something to create and a basic art kit.  We supply the rest!

Affirmation Cards in a Tin - $35
Thursday, March 28th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Here is the opportunity to use what you made in the last class "Gel Print Fun".  Lisa will share lots of stamps and supplies for you to use making these sweet cards that can be a reminder of how good life can be or encouragement cards for someone in need.  These cards are also perfectly sized to use as part of a greeting card. You will enjoy this class even if you didn't take last weeks class and already have a stack of gel prints just waiting to be used.  Somehow the ideas just flow when you are creating with others!  The cute little window topped tin is included with this class.

Class Fees:  Class fees are due at the time of enrollment.  Lisa takes cash, checks and sends PayPal invoices.  If you are in the store when she is here, she can take credit cards.  Payment of class fees guarantees your enrollment in class.  If you register online, you will receive a confirmation email from the store.  You will still need to make arrangements to pay your fees prior to class.  "Registrations" are not guaranteed until class fees are paid.  Class fees must be paid by the Saturday prior to class or your registration will be cancelled and no kit will be available.

Class Kit:  You are required to bring a kit of basic paper crafting supplies.  Your kit should include (but is not limited to) such things as a black ink pad, embossing ink pad, your favorite paper glue, favorite adhesive (tape runner or double sided tape), scissors, sponges or daubers for edging, pencil and bone folder.  Please feel free to add any other supplies you feel you need for paper crafting.  All products needed for your basic kit can be purchased at the store.
