First ..... from Memory Box

The Project of the month and the Cardstock of the month really rock for summer.  Reminescent of a trip to Hawaii and the beach!  Got two really cute new dies too..... one is a little string of pennants and one is a little string of lanterns!  Way too cute!

We got the stamps in earlier (already sold out of the butterflies, but reordering asap).  She has stencils made by Crafter's Workshop to match.  Here is Julie explaining how to use them together....

Special Saturday Hours

I just wanted to let you know that since my family reunion is this weekend and due to the summer quiet I have decided to be open only a half day on Saturday.  My friend Carol has graciously agreed to "babysit" on Saturday so those of you who "have needs" can pick up some last minute supplies.

New in the House Today

The Tim Holtz Summer Distress Ink Pads arrived yesterday so those are available for you to purchase and we have some awesome new 7 Gypsies Trousseau items that arrived last Friday.  The Graphic 45 Halloween 12x12 papers arrived last Friday and 8x8 paper pads arrived today.  I know it's still early, but I expect they are going to sell out early so you will want to get yours now.  They are incredible and make me want to run out and start working on Halloween swaps right away!

Technique Tag Book 2!

New Techniques and information on products make this technique book project a must for all those who took the original Technique Tag Book class.  If you haven't taken the first class, don't let that stop you from taking this one...  You'll learn lots of techniques you can put to use no matter what your experience level!

Remember to always bring your basic supply kit when you come to class.  We can help you put one together if you don't have a clue what to include.  Although class fees must be prepaid to hold your spot, you may call to reserve your spot until you can mail a check or come by.

ARTSY WEEKEND UPDATE

Dina  Wakley  Classes

Movin' a little slow this week.... BUT it's time to publish that class list as promised.....  These are the classes.  You can start signing up tomorrow by calling or emailing.

All classes are approximately 3 hours long.  You should bring your basic kit to most classes and there will be a limited number of additional supplies required (seriously, minimal).

Without further ado.....  The Classes.....

DYING FOR DYLUSIONS ..... $45
Friday, July 13 ... 4pm to 7pm

Are you ready for some serious FUN!  Learn how to use spray inks by making this joyful, inky tag book using Dylusions ink sprays and stamps.  Dina will show you five techniques to use with the ink sprays (stenciling, wet on wet, ghosting, oil resist, and gesso resist).  What's exciting is you'll make and fold the book structure from just one sheet of paper.  Then you'll use fun and funky Dylusions stamps to decorate your book.  It's a colorful exlosion of joy!

ENCAUSTIC TAG BOOK, "Dear Self" ..... $50
Sat, July 14 ... 10am to 1pm

Come and learn about the ancient art of encaustics.  We'll be using beeswax and irons to make fun and addicting beeswax collages.  We'll play with stamps, inks, acrylic paint, beeswax..... oh my!  We'll add positive quotes to make the book a wonderful message of hope and encouragement. The tags will go in an accordion book structure that Dina will show you how to create.  Beeswax is fun and addictive..... come and play!

INTRODUCTION TO ART JOURNALING ..... $50
Sat, July 14 ... 2:30 -5:30 pm

Have you been curious about art journaling, but are not sure where to start?  Come and play with Dina!  We'll explore what art journaling is and she will teach you techniques for creating fun and expressive pages.  We'll create backgrounds, image layers, and top texture.  We'll make several pages and you'll get a feel for playing, experimenting, and being free with your art.  Dina also will give you some tips for page topics and writing on your pages.  No previous art experience is required.

CHUNKY BACKGROUND TECHNIQUES BOOK ..... $50
Sun, July 15 ... 10am to 1pm

Join Dina for a celebration of background techniques!  We'll start by creating five backgrounds with different techniques -- scraping and lifting, monoprinting with plastic, modeling paste and stencils, watercoloring with spray ink, and gesso with masking tape ... so fun!  Then we'll cut down the backgrounds and bind them into a chunky little book.  You can use your book as a little art journal, a scrapbook, a book of quotes... the sky's the limit. 

As you can see.... these classes are fun and exciting. We have all the samples here for you to look at...  I hope you'll join us for as many as you can.  You will be so glad you do.

Summer Seasonal Distress Inks

NEW  LIMITED  EDITION

SUMMER DISTRESS INKS

I just said to someone the other day (forgive me, I can't remember who I was talking with) that I was pretty sure Tim Holtz would release one more Limited Edition Seasonal Distress Ink Pad Set....  No sooner said than done!  Looks like the colors are going to be really nice! 

The colors are Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, & Salty Ocean.....  sounds delightful.  We ordered a good number of them and looks like they will ship out immediately.  If you would like to have a set reserved, please call or email.  We should have plenty. 

ARTSY WEEKEND UPDATE

I heard from Dina on the schedule and I will have photos, schedule and prices for the classes posted tomorrow.  I will start taking reservations on Thursday.  It's gonna be a blast so be sure you reserve July 13th, 14th & 15th for this event!

Art Classes

AMAZING CLASS, INCREDIBLE FUN

Lisa has been teaching classes somewhere between 12 and 14 years now.  It's been a really fun ride and it is amazing to look back at what she taught in the beginning and what she teaches now.  "We've come a long way baby" just to paraphrase a well known saying.  Week before last Lisa taught a really fun "SheArt" style canvas class.   We'd had so many requests to teach the canvases I've created and set out as samples of ways to use the products we carry so we set out to create a class that could be done in a 2-3 hour time span.  Ours looked like this.....

On class night, Lisa threw out a couple of 6x6 paper pads and had everyone choose what they wanted to use for the dress, parasol, and body parts.  You could choose any combination or use what we used.  Then she put out a number of paints and brush markers.  With a little direction, everyone started in.  The results were incredible!  Here's a collage of the artists and their creations....  I wanted to keep them all and make a wall of them here in the shop.

I hope Lisa will find the time to create more classes for experimentation.... I know this one was so much fun for all.  It was certainly an exciting experiment for Lisa and me!  Next experimental class is the Don't Chunk It Continues.  You get to create your own masterpieces on junk mail.  It's Sunday, June 9th and there are still a few spaces left so call and reserve yours today!
