Lisa and I would like to thank everyone who joined us Saturday for Preview Day.  We had so many people waiting at the door when we opened that we instantly had a sign in of 20 people for the Make 'n Take before the first two people could even start their tag!  We apologize for the wait time for those who were further down on the list. The Make was quick, easy and loved by all. I tried to photograph it, but sadly, I apparently did not have the skills needed.

 

Lisa has a really wonderful class schedule for May.  If you couldn't come Saturday, I hope you'll get by to sign up in person (or online if that's easier!).  If you can only take one, I think it'll be a hard choice!  Now, here's the schedule for May.

Lisa was gifted a fun Joyful Stick by our friend Alice.  It was a multi-stick project created at Paper Crown in Waco, Texas as a window display by Angie Meyer and Cindy Winter (the owner).  Lisa thought you, too, might want to create one! This project is perfect for any of your gel prints and a variety of additional papers.  Come learn how easy it is to make one. Framed Sentiments - $40

 This card is a two for one gift/card.  It's a card with a gift!  Each card has a pocket on the front and you'll make a sweet hanging framed sentiment to tuck in it. Art Journal Event - $35

    I'm going to make a long story short.  This is Labor Day weekend and the store is normally closed. I had an idea......  yeah, an idea. Now it's a real thing.  **You will need a working knowledge of how to art journal.**

    

This will be a NO SAMPLE/PROMPT DRIVEN "class".

Seating will be limited to 8 per 3-1/2 hour session. 

Each table will be shared by 2 people.  

You will have access to ALL the Art Journal supplies.  

 

Yeah, I think it's a kinda big deal! I may or may not have a helper, and I plan to participate if possible. I'm excited and overwhelmed at the same time.  If we have more than 16 people interested, I will consider adding an additional class on Friday afternoon or evening (May 22). Summer Blooms - $35

Our March Preview Day was a smashing good time!  I am beginning to enjoy and settle into the routine of getting the "Facebook Live at 7:45 am" done and it's beginning to actually be a lot of fun. Lisa and I ran through a quick finishing design of the Make 'n Take.  This one was really fun and although there were a lot of variations, this is the sample we had on display!

 

 

 

Lisa's classes for April are just amazing!  I am so excited about them and if you weren't able to come by Saturday, I hope you'll get by to see them in person and enroll.  Although several time slots are already sold out, read on to see what she's got for you next month!

House Mouse Joy - $35

Who doesn't love the House Mouse collections?  I know, not everyone loves mice.  However, you have to admit that the House Mouse art is pretty darn cute! We haven't used colored pencils in a long time, but Lisa has knocked it out of the ball park this time with a clever use of pencils on vellum that you will really love. If there is enough interest, Lisa may be able to add this class to another date this month or offer it again next month.  Please call the store to opt in for an additional class.

 

 

Mixed Media Notecards - $35

You'll enjoy using Oxide Sprays on watercolor paper to create a large sheet of background paper that will be cut up to create 6 cheerful notecards.  Catherine Pooler released a new set of literary quotes and images a few months ago that are perfect for this technique.  You'll have enough paper left over to make at least 6 more notecards.  As Lisa said at Preview Day this class is "Fun Fun Fun"!  Click here to enroll online.

 

Lavender Fields Envelope Book - $35

Gel printing is so much fun.  It's been a while, but you can sharpen your skills with the gel plate as you create your own unique collage papers.  Gel printed papers make great pages in a junk journal and covers for journals as well.  Our friend Sharon has made the most amazing cards using them as the base layer for many cards.  If you scrapbook the prints are perfect for layering under photos or as die cut accents.  Click here to enroll.

This spread is still a work in progress, but as you can see, it's going to be a dreamy work of art.  Lisa will guide you through this one.  She was inspired by an AI artist on Instagram to create a version using real materials to create a digital style piece.  While we love seeing the creativity of AI artists, we long to create on paper with real materials.  This one will be fun.  The morning class is filling fast, but the afternoon class is wide open!  We can't wait to see your unique take on the page she's created! Happy New Year!  What an amazing and busy Preview Day we had on Saturday.  We ran out of Make 'n Take supplies and had to use up the last few sheets of the paper for sale to make more.  But what a sweet Make it was!

 

 

Lisa brought a really great February class schedule to the party! We had a great response to it and most classes are already close to being full.  There are openings in all the classes but act quickly if you are interested in any of them.  They should be posted on the website by Wednesday.  I'll post on Facebook as soon as it goes "live".

 

"Sweet" Heart Cards - $35

Junque Drawer No Sew Journal - $40

 What can I say?!  This "junk" journal is really beautiful and will be a really fun tiny journal to use as a photo book or to alter in your own special style.  It is made entirely of papers from the Junque Journal collection by Simple Stories.  There are 17 "spreads" in the uniquely assembled journal.  No sewing!  There is an acetate cover page on the front and back to protect the book.

 Master Page Heart Canvas - $40

Did you take the Master Page class in January?  Even if you didn't you can still make this stunning 10x10 canvas.  Lisa will be happy to provide a copy of one of her master pages for an additional $5.  You'll use paint, washi tapes, stamps and stencils to create this canvas.  The heart is pressed into modeling paste and will be done for you prior to the class due to the drying time involved.  This would make a great gift for a friend of the heart!

 What a great way to end the month!  Art Journal Saturday is a favorite with all our resident artists (and even some from other states!)  We all enjoy creating our own version of the sample.  Lisa will be guiding you through her sample this month and even thought it wasn't quite ready in the time for Preview Day, I promise you won't be disappointed!  The sample will be on display in the store as soon as she finishes it.  It will also be posted on Facebook, so keep a watch there!

Christmas will be here in a couple of days and the store will close at 2 pm on Wednesday for Christmas and remain closed through January 1st.  But fear not!  We'll be back on the 2nd with a big 2 day sale!

 

I'm really excited to share our January class schedule with you.  It was well received on Saturday during Preview Day.   I failed to nab a photo of the FREE Make 'n Take, but it was definately a hit!

Winter Blues - $35

  Start the New Year off with some lovely winter blue cards.  Not the "blues", but the beautiful blue feel of snowy winter days.  Perfect for any occasion, you'll use markers, watercolor, ink pads and shimmer sprays to create the feel of quiet winter days.  Penny Black stamps are just perfect for these serene cards.

 

2026 Calendar Book/Journal - $40

Graphic 45's "Journaling Through the Year" paper collection is perfect for this book that can be used as a journal scheduling calendar or perpetual calendar book.  Since it is bound by the "disc" system, you can add pages without taking the book apart.  The store now has a Cinch Multi Punch so you can punch additional papers at a later date.  This makes a great gift too!

More Penny Black stamps!  They make such beautiful Valentine or friendship cards.  This is a "sharpen" your watercolor skills class so come prepared to spend a little extra time.  They go together easily and look so professional.  You'll be using watercolor by Altenew, inks and Tombow markers.  You'll love giving these cards to your favorite friends!

 

Art Journal Saturday - $20

Get ready for some fun!  I'm teaching this time and I used a list of prompts to get started.  I have had such fun working on this one.  There is an interactive piece, a hidden pocket, and tag/envelope pieces.  You do not have to use a hand, but it is fun. I will show you an option if you don't want to do the flipping piece.  Although I am not quite finished with everything I want to add, you can stop where I did to display it for Preview Day or go as far as I will when I finish it over the holidays.  The afternoon class is full, but there are still seats left in the morning class.

 

Master Page - $35

It's back by request! We all love creating master pages and they are so handy when you want to create a unique card background.  They work well for mixed media projects too!  Lisa will have a follow up project for February that you can use your master page to create.  If you don't want to use yours, she will be happy to provide a copy of hers for an additional $5 upcharge.

Class Schedule

 

We had a great Preview Day.  The "Live @ 7:45" Preview of Preview Day went off without a hitch.  The tables were laden with fabulous Christmas finds and the Make 'n Take was fun and easy! 

This gift card holder is easy to make using an envelope and scrapbook paper! The envelope gives it stability and you only have to score the side folds. There's a little work scoring all the folds of the scrapbook paper used, but all in all, it's fun to make and not at all hard.

Lisa's December schedule is short and sweet.  The Christmas season is quite busy this year so I know she and I both need some time off.  We'll be taking at least a week off after Christmas, but we'll be back with an energy boost that only time off can give!

Joy at Christmas Cradled Board - $40

Oh Joy!  I love this piece, don't you?  It's a 6x12 cradled board and would be great displayed on an easel or hung on a wall.  And I think it would be lovely all year 'round to remind us of the JOY Christmas brought to the world when Jesus came to live among us and complete the task of salvation for all!  Paper from the Simple Stories "Believe" collection creates a fun background and is completed by the addition of stamped trees and die cut deer on top of the die cut word "Joy".  The snow covered twig makes a perfect anchor.  This one is just as much fun to make as it is beautiful!

 

Annual Christmas Gift Tags - $40

Our friend Adona suggested this to Lisa so many years ago that we can't even remember when.  Of course it became a tradition because who doesn't need last minute gift tags for all the last minute wrapping!?  This year Lisa has found so many images to use that it was hard to decide which ones would make the cut!  Anyway, I think you'll have lots of fun making these and probably decide to make more when you get home!
