Wicked Tombstone

Part 1 of a 2 part series (you don't have to take both...hee hee.... but you'll want to), Lisa has taken the Tim Holtz Tombstone Tag and created the best Halloween decoration ever! She'll be teaching a new technique for the background and you'll have a blast working on this project.

Haunted Houses

Creative Play Book

Art journaling without fear or judgement!  The perfect place to learn to spread your wings and take art to the level you've always wanted.  Lisa or I create an art journal page or spread and guide you through the creation of your very own version.  Join us!  All you need is an art journal and a few extra supplies.  We supply the rest!

Class and Workshop Details

Class Fees:  Class and workshop fees are due at the time of enrollment.  Lisa accepts cash, checks and PayPal.  Guest Artist fees can be paid by cash, check, credit card or PayPal to My Heart's Fancy

Basic Supply Kit:  All students are required to bring a kit of basic paper crafting tools for Lisa's classes.  guest Artist students will be required to bring a basic kit of paper crafting and/or art supplies.  Additional supplies are sometimes required and those supplies are generally listed with the workshop descriptions.

As always, if you ever have a question about classes or workshops, don't hesitate to call or come by.  We have a printed list of basic supply kit items here at the store if you are uncertain of what you should include.

I am so excited to announce that Joanne's October workshops are now open for enrollment!  Joanne has been coming to My Heart's Fancy since 2013 to teach her specialty whimsical lettering classes.  Joanne's has a fascination for all things watercolor and now she brings her watercolor made simple classes to us!

"Artful Alphabets on the Road"

Elevate your personal lettering style with the inspirations from Joanne's new book "Artful Alphabets".  Explore the 55 styles and techniques from the book as inspiration to create an illustrated storybook filled with a personal mantra and favorite quotes.  Enjoy this artful challenge to choose, design and integrate the ideas into making a creative keepsake.  Bring your copy of the book "Artful Alphabets" for Joanne to sign and receive an original artwork bookplate! Please let me know if you would like a copy of Joanne's "Artful Alphabets" book at the time of enrollment and I will order them to arrive for class.

NOTE:  This live workshop contains ALL NEW CONTENT and is a compliment to Joanne's online class "Artful Alphabets".

Supplies Students need to bring:

• favorite watercolor paints
• #4 round watercolor brush
• water brush (medium round)
• 10-12 colorful markers - Tombow or Copic recommended
• black fine line marker pens (Pitt, Micron, etc)
• Black Platinum Carbon Ink Pen (fine or extra fine)
• Composition Book (wide or college ruled)
• Glue stick
• Pencil and eraser
• Washi tape

Optional Kit may be available. Kit items will include Platinum Carbon Pen, Composition Book and #4 round watercolor brush.  Price to be determined.

Whimsical Watercolor Sketching: "Paint Things"

Learn to capture the essence and realism of ordinary, simple objects in this comprehensive drawing and painting class in a new sketchbook.  You'll master simple drawing methods to render vignettes and objects with great accuracy using pencil, marker, a permanent ink pen and watercolor paints.  Ideas and techniques presented can be used in everyday sketching and learning practices or travel journaling.  Experiment with drawing objects, page layouts, lettering and compostion to fill yoru new book with beautifully illustrated renditions of you personal memories and life experiences.  Joanne will bring her illustrated sketchbooks for inspiration.  This is a skill that lasts a lifetime!

Supplies students need to bring:

• New (if possible) 5.5"x8" sketchbook - Stillman & Birn BETA SERIES or Strathmore 500 series soft cover MIXED MEDIA suggested
• Black Platinum Carbon Pen
• Favorite Watercolor paints
• water brush or #4 round watercolor brush
• Pencil and eraser
• Tombow Dual Brush marker - color #N75 & #992
• A FAVORITE OBJCT to draw in class - Joanne suggests a ROSE ROCK for all her Okie friends

Optional Kit may be available.  Items to be included in kit are Stillman & Birn sketchbook, Platinum Carbon Pen & Tombow dual brush markers. Price to be determined.

"The Watercolor Unicorn" 

Painting and Lettering Collage Art

Are you super intrigued with whimsical watercolor painting, but still petrified?  This medium can be really tricky, but fear not!  We won't be painting actual unicorns, but join us to play with your paitns and master the elusive termperament of watercolor and capture that mysterious "Watercolor Unicorn" with Joanne's magical process.  We have the recipe for success with 10 (TEN!) foolproof watercolor techniques for painting piles of simple imagery, lettering and illustrations (like Joanne's flowers, birds, butterflies, backgrounds, nature, etc.) to use in colorful collage wall art, bookmaking, cards and jorunaling.  We'll even draw and paint lettering, so you can take home a chunky, embellished handmade book filled with watercolors and words.  The "Watercolor Unicorn" has landed!

Supplies students need to bring:

• Your best watercolor paints - suggested brands are Prima Confections and Gansi by Kuretake
• Watercolor brushes - ROUNDS #4, #8 & #14
• Tim Holtz detailer waterbrush
• small sharp scissors to cutting details on heavy papers (Cutterbee, Tonic)
• Black fine tip waterproof pens by Micron, Pitt or the Platinum Carbon Pen
• Pencil and eraser
• PVA Bookbinding glue
• Pad (or 5 sheets) of 9"x12" 90 lb watercolor paper by Strathmore

Optional Kit may be available.  Kit will include all 3 watercolor brushes, Tim Holtz detailer waterbrush, Micron or Pitt fine tip waterproof pens & 5 sheets of watercolor paper.  Price to be determined.

ALL SUPPLIES REQUIRED WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN THE STORE prior to the workshops. Many of these items are normally in stock most of the time.   If you want any of the optional kits, please let me know and I will get a price for you as soon as possible.
