Art Journal Saturday

June 2023

I mostly blog the class schedules, but I today I wanted to share a bit about our Art Journal Saturday classes.

Lisa and I enjoy Art Journal Saturday (AJS) every time we offer it.  It's fun and we learn so much from each other.  Our art gets better and better every time we teach it and our students are amazing.  The best part is that experience matters not.  The sample spread can be copied almost to the tiniest detail which allows the inexperienced to learn about how products work and as they learn, they begin to create their own amazing art.

Another thing I love about AJS is how our card making students begin to relax when creating cards.  They become more adventurous and when they make an "oops! oh well!" they find a way to change it to incorporate their "mistake" into a part of their designs.

I thought I would share a few pictures from last Saturday's AJS.

A few "candid" shots of the classroom and a work in progress.

Some of the finished work below!

I'd like to invite you to join us for AJS in the future.  It's only $20 and you need only bring a basic kit and your art journal or surface to work on.  We provide all the art products, stamps, and stencils...

Dina Wakley will be here in 2 weeks so we won't have AJS during July, but we'll start back up in August!  I hope you'll join us.  It's the best $20 you'll spend to learn art journaling and play with someone else's supplies!

Hope to see you soon!

July 2023

Class Schedule

Summer is here!  I hope all the Dads in your life had a great Father's Day celebration.  We had a great time on Saturday during Preview Day.  It was a bit quieter than normal, but we visited with friends and made this "poppin" cute gift card holder!

Stamps and dies are from Catherine Pooler and we used Rockin' Red, Midnight & Whipped Honey Catherine Pooler inks.  It really is a fun gift card holder and it fits perfectly in an A2 envelope.

Dina Wakley takes the wheel and is teaching 4 wonderful classes this weekend.  As of today, 3 of the 4 classes are full, but if you are interested in the Dina-style Art Journaling class, I have 3 seats left.  Please enroll on the website.  I have a wait list for the other classes in case of a cancellation, so please feel free to enroll in any of them.  I'll let you know what place you are in the line of "waits" and then if there are cancellations, notify you.

The store will be closed during the workshops, but if you know what you need, just give me a call and I'll grab it for you.  You can run in, pay and pick up!

July 2023 Class Schedule

"Stylin" Cards - $30
Thursday, July 13th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

One of our most popular Penny Black rubber stamps is a girl in a striped shirt with a Parisian beanie hat holding a big cup of latte.  It's called Love Ya.  When I was putting a Penny Black order together last month I ran across these 3 girls and thought to myself, "Lisa should do a class using this set of girls since the other has been so popular".  Apparently she agreed!  There is lots of bling on these cards including shimmering watercolors and glitter glue.  You could add more, of course, but I think Lisa has struck the perfect balance.  What do you think? (Take the class!, of course).

Preview Day - FREE
Saturday, July 15
10 am to 4 pm - Come and Go

If you've been around for a while, you know this event occurs the 3rd Saturday of every month.  It's at the end of the second week this month, so be sure you make a mental note of that.  It's easy to miss when it happens so early in the month.  Anyway.....  it's fun.  You get to enjoy a FREE Make 'n Take, browse newly arrived products AND sign up for the classes for August!  Grab a friend and share the fun.

"Shake It Up" Cards - $35
Thursday, July 20
10:30 am OR  6 pm

Lisa has learned a new technique for making shaker cards.  You'll be making a lot of these because they are so very different from the usual shakers....  You get to put the glitter/shaker elements in a variety of different places for very unique shaker cards.  Come learn how to use cover dies to make these shakers!

All Occasion Cards - $35
Thursday, July 27
10:30 am OR 6 pm

These cards are so beautiful.  You'll use a variety of techniques and supplies to create some one of a kind cards.  I promise you'll love making each and every one of them.  There are 2 collage style cards, 1 easel card and one unique card combining stencil work and stamps.  Each and every one of them can be sent to any number of your friends for any number of reasons - hence the name "all occasion"!

Art Journal Saturday - $20

Art Journal Saturday will be back next month.  Dina Wakley took the place of this fabulous class earlier in the month.  But never fear, we love this class so much and apparently so do you as it is always nearly full and rightly so. We won't disappoint you, so be sure to watch for it's return in August!
