Class Schedule

As most of you know by now, Lisa Bruno has been teaching classes at My Heart's Fancy for a very long time now.  We can remember a time when we could only seat 6 people in a teeny tiny storage space.  Things have certainly changed, but the friendships that were made in those classes remain strong.  And what's even better?  More friends are added every year and we treasure each one of them!

Well, enough of the trip down Memory Lane!  On to Lisa's schedule of classes (and when I mentioned on Facebook that I was wiping the drool off my chin, it wasn't a joke!).

VALENTINE DELIGHT

Kelley Walker returns with a follow up to the Gelli Printing class from November.  Did you miss that class?  Have no fear!  You won't miss a beat and will be using your Gelli Printing Plate with ease by the end of this exciting class.  You will need your own Gelli Printing Plate (available at My Heart's Fancy - 10% off when you purchase for class) but all other supplies will be provided.  Plan to have a blast in this all-day workshop.

Everyone needs a card for a man now and then.  Tim Holtz just released a number of new stamps and Lisa couldn't wait to play with them.  That and lots of you asked for a "man card" class.....  You will learn a new technique using Tattered Angels new Bare Metal Weathered Copper kit.

Every month on the third Saturday we have "Demo Day".  It's always FREE.  We always have a FREE make-it-take-it.  There are lots of new items to browse  AND  Lisa always has a new class schedule for the following month.  Bring a friend, meet a friend or make a new friend here!  It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

WHIMSICAL SHADOW BOX FRAME

Learn how to creatively fill a shadow box using one simple paper and a plethora of stamps.  You'll stamp on paper AND on the glass!  You will need to provide your own 8x10 shadow box frame.  

HEART CARDS

Inspiration for this class comes from the "Truth Card" project from the Brave Girls Blog.  You can read about it here and here. It is a project of enormous proportions. This is a beautiful class straight from the Heart of Lisa.  Who knows?  Maybe one of your Heart Cards will make a difference for someone who crosses your path soon!

March 1st & 2nd

I am so excited to have Donna back to teach 4 new ah-mazing classes.  Last year was such a treat and Donna has so much to share with us this year.  Donna's trademark word is "Inspire" and that is just what she is going to do for you!  Here are the Ah-Mazing classes she is bringing to you.....

PAINT LIKE AN ARTIST - STENCIL

Friday March 1st  -  4 pm to 9 pm

Want to paint but don't know where to start?  You will create your very own 16x20 canvas in this awesome 5 hour workshop.  Donna will walk you step by step from start to finish and guess what?  NO  SKILLS  NEEDED!  Can I get a deep sigh of relief?  Using stencils (lots and lots of them) and acrylic paints you will learn how to use color to create depth and texture.  Then you will learn how to isolate pieces of your background design to build your design in the foreground.  You will leave this class Painting Like an Artist!

techniques in COLOR

Saturday, March 2 - 9 am to 11 am

Love color?  Afraid to use it?  Fear no more!  In this 2 hour workshop, Donna will teach you how to work with multiple mixed-media layers of color.  You will learn a bit of color theory and use lots of cool products to create a beautiful mixed-media canvas.  You will use gelatos, pastel pencils, PITT big brush pens, PanPastels and more!

PanPastel Painting

Saturday, March 2 - 12 pm to 5 pm

Learn how to use PanPastels to create 3 12x12 Pastelbords in this 5 hour workshop.  Whether you have dabbled with PanPastels or have just thought about it, you will learn a few tricks.  All you need is the desire to create and play.  Donna will bring samples of her very own PanPastel art to use as models for your own creation.  She will teach you about the tools, as well as demonstrate how to sketch, draw and transform simple designs into dynamic and colorful pieces of art.  No previous PanPastel experience is required.  Get ready to learn a whole new way of expressing your inner artist!

Saturday, March 2 - 7 pm to 10 pm

This 3 hour workshop is designed to guide you through the multi-layers building of an original mixed-media 6x18" canvas.    A simple color palette, tags, modeling paste, gesso, tapes, fabric, and paper elements will be used to create a beautiful, textural piece of artwork celebrating strength and beauty.  Tap into your inner artist and watch your blank canvas transform into an amazing collage!

Registration Details

You can register by email (maura@myheartsfancyok.com) or by phone (405-509-6788).  Registration is not limited at this time.  If classes are too large for our classroom or an empty space in the shopping center, I will find a place nearby that is large enough.  Donna is happy teaching 5 people or 100 people.  Prepayment for classes is the only way to reserve your seat in the classes you want.  You will receive a PayPal invoice by email within 48 hours after notifying me about the classes you want to take.  Please take the time to complete the transaction as soon as possible.

Out of Town Students

There are a number of quality hotels within 2-3 miles of our location.  They include all of the Marriott properties, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and La Quinta.  If you are booking online, look for hotels in the "Quail Springs Shopping Center" area (northwest Oklahoma City).

I am truly excited about these classes.  I know you will enjoy them and learn an enormous amount from each one of them.

Road Construction

HAPPY  NEW  YEAR!

2013 is gonna be something special around here.  I've mentioned it before, but Donna Downey and Dina Wakley are both returning with all new classes for us.  I'll have details in the next week or two for you so stay tuned!  Lisa has been creating and Kelley Walker has a few ideas in the hopper for you as well.

ROAD  CONSTRUCTION  UPDATE

Oh Yes....  It has begun!  Penn & 164th is still a 4 way stop.  Not sure when the stoplights will return.  Rumors say it will be a little while still.  As you can see in the photo above, the entries to the center are being chewed up.  Have no fear..... we will always have an entrance open.  Best way to get here, until you hear otherwise, is to come in from 164th. It's not complicated, but do expect a few delays for a week or so til they get the temporary road laid.

I'll try to keep you updated as I see changes.  The company doing the street work is very reputable and does a good job.  They do make it as easy as possible for the traffic to flow.  The intersection at 164th & Penn is being done by a different company and hopefully will be as painless as possible.

DEMO DAY

It's the 19th (still 2 weeks away) and Lisa will have the rest of her January class schedule ready along with the complete February class schedule.  We will also have swap materials for Valentines day ready for you to pick up.

December 2012 Demo Day

As December progresses, Lisa and I are truly thankful for your friendships and your patronage.

We had a wonderful Demo Day last Saturday.  Here is a picture of the really cute and inexpensive party favor we made.....

Seriously, it's so cute and so simple.  We used a toilet paper roll..... really, we did.  You paint the inside with acrylic paint (we used the Claudine Helmuth Studio paint we offer) and then you cover the outside with the paper of your choice.  Add ribbon and stamped embellishment and voila'.... cute party favor you fill with the small gift of your choice.....  If you came Saturday, you got a nail file (til we ran out) and a tiny bar of soap.  You can fill it with Hersheys kisses.....  whatever your sweet heart wants.  Darling!

Coming in 2013

As 2013 approaches we are planning so many new and wonderful things.  

Our friends, Donna Downey and Dina Wakley are returning to teach this spring - so excited by that.  

I'm looking into PayPal for odd transactions that you can't make in house.  

We are exploring more swap options.  I want to keep doing the 4 seasonal swaps we do and add in a "challenge" during the off times.  More about that later.

I'm thinking about a monthly newsletter.  Just found a wonderful email service that seems to be perfect for our needs.....  

If there is anything you would like to see us do, let me know.  This is really all about you.....  No matter what I want to do, it's fairly worthless if you aren't interested.  That's my 2013 resolution..... to be more sensitive to your needs.  So keep hammering me....  sometimes I'm a little dense, but I'll eventually get it.
