 December 2024
Class Schedule

I didn't think our November Preview Day would top October's but we had even more fun than last month.  I have to say that our customer friends are absolutely the best in the world.  You guys make our job such a joy!  Thank you for your friendship and love!

We had a great time making this fun FREE Make 'n Take.

The plaid paper from Carta Bella, the Joy letters and the banner dies are  from Catherine Pooler and the green card stock base behind the plaid paper is from our collection of 8.5"x11" card stock.  It's a simple card to make but looks like so much more!

The store is taking a short break before Thanksgiving. The store will be closed Tuesday, Nov 26 - Thursday, Nov 28.  We will reopen Friday and Saturday for

Wow!  Now that that is out of the way, let's have a look at Lisa's December schedule!

Annual Christmas Gift Tags - $35
Thursday, Dec 5
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Our good friend, Adona, requests this class every year and it has become a tradition to honor her request.  This year you will make 12 unique tags suitable for just about anyone on your gift list.  Some are large and some are small and some are "in between".  Who doesn't need a few more gift tags at Christmas?!

Christmas Tree X 3 - $50
Thursday, December 12
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Apparently this class was such a hit last year, that this class was requested by more than one person!  Lisa was inspired by another artist last year and she created her own unique version.  The colors for this group of cradled canvas boards are more whimsical, but she has agreed to provide more traditional colors if you prefer them.  They make a great hostess gift and can even be separated and gifted to 3 friends (or 2 friends so you can keep 1!).

Winter Wishes - $35
Thursday, December 19th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

We had a request for one more card class.  You can never have too many cards and Lisa has created a lovely set of winter themed cards that can be used for any occasion you have.

Preview Day - FREE

Christmas Break
December 22 - December 31
Closed

It's been a long year and the store is going to be closed from the 22nd through the 31st.  We will reopen with a clearance sale on New Year's Day so be watching for details just after Christmas. Jeff and I will be celebrating Christmas in Arizona with our families for the first time in 12 years. We haven't been able to spend much time with them and with the loss of Jeff's brother in 2022, we want to spend some quality time with both Jeff's family and my brother's family.  Lisa will be spending special time with her family as well.

That's the schedule for the month of December.  Here are a few more details you need to know about enrolling in the classes.

November 2024
Class Schedule

Saturday was an amazing day.  Preview Day comes and goes and they are all good days.  Something about this one was a little bit magical.  Lisa's class schedule for November is filled with fun projects and a couple of sweet card classes.  Thanksgiving is coming up and since it's later in the month this year we even have time for one last Art Journal Saturday.

The FREE Make 'n Take was a hit and we sold out of stamp sets.  Unfortunately the paper we used is no longer available and we used every bit of what we had.  I hate when that happens.  When I bought it I knew we were going to use it, but didn't know that we would use both sides of it and that there would be none left.  Well, that's how it goes sometimes and here's what we did.....

AND here's the class schedule for November!

One Last Fall - $35
TUESDAY, October 29
10:30 am OR 6 pm

This is actually the last class of October but it is fitting that it be included in this schedule.  It was not ready at the printing of last months schedule, but the wait was worth it!  You could say the theme of this class is pumpkins as the they are the overwhelming element used, but there are also fall leaves involved so really, "It's Fall Y'All!"  A variety of sentiments make these cards suitable for a variety of October & November occasions.

Christmas Folios & Mini Book - $35
Thursday, November 7
10:30 am OR 6 pm

What a sweet set of card/book giftables this class is!  At first I had to give it a little thought about what to do with them, but then it made total sense.  The two folios would be fun to use as "mini" photo allbums with all the cards and pockets.  The mini cards that tuck into the pockets can serve as a mount for photos from "Christmas Pasts" and would make a great gift for friends or family.  The mini book has lots of great places for journaling and photos to use as a memory of this Christmas!  Any way you choose to use them will be a delight for you or someone special!

Christmas Variety - $35
Thursday, November 14
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Oh Squeeeeeeeee!  These cards are so beautiful!  Penny Black came out with a fabulous poinsettia embossing folder, stencil and die set that is a perfect focal element for any card.  It would also make an amazing art piece.  Penny Black always hits it out of the ball park at Christmas and the other two cards (bird wreath & JOY) are another example of their creative stamps and dies.  Memory Box brings us the wonderful snowflack border die that Lisa has used to make the perfect winter card for any occasion.  You'll have fun creating these cards.

Preview Day - FREE
Saturday, November 16
10 am to 4 pm
FREE Make 'n Take

Vintage Christmas Box - $40
Thursday, November 21
10:30 am OR 6 pm

I'll bet you have some Christmas/winter decorations that need to be replaced.  Why not come make this really fun "boxed" canvas project that can be hung or placed just about anywhere you want - atop the fireplace mantle with garland and ornaments, as a focal place of a table centerpiece or hung just about anwhere you need a little visual reminder that "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!"

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, November 23
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Thanksgiving is so late this year that we decided we have time for one more Art Journal class.  You'll enjoy this "take it nice and easy" spread.  It's got a much more complicated look than it takes to create.  Maura (that's me) will be teaching this one and I say.....  "This is one of those art journal spreads with a bit of a formula designed to get you in the mood to do more." I'll get you started and I'm pretty sure you'll take it a lot farther than I did!

SEPTEMBER 23 2024

OCTOBER 2024
CLASS SCHEDULE

Oh my goodness!  We were so busy Saturday.  Preview Day is so much fun and we were busy from start to finish.  Adona kept the crowd entertained as usual and Lisa guided everyone through this FREE Make 'n Take.

Catherine Pooler stamps and inks.  Plaid paper by Echo Park.  Cherri helped me adapt the design from a sample we saw.  Even though it took a little longer than usual, everyone walked out with a great fall greeting card to send to a friend or family member.

Lisa's class schedule has 3 card classes and a techniques tag class.  We haven't done technique tags in a long time and this time of year it's fun to take a breather from all the holiday happenings.  We still have an art journal sample and an additional class at the end of the month to come, but take a look at what we do have coming up.

Christmas Embossibilities - $35
Thursday, October 3
10:3 am OR 6 pm

Altenew has wonderful 3D embossing folders and so does Memory Box.  This class features 2 from each of them and 2 of them aren't exactly Christmas designs but with the proper colors and sentiments they are perfect.  Lisa has used some special dies and stamps from a lovely Christmas sentiment set by Altenew to complete all of them.  These will make wonderful cards for friends and family!

Cards to "Die Cut" For - $35
Thursday, October 10
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Lisa taught a class recently using the 49th & Market "Moonlit Garden" paper collection.  It was such a hit, she decided to use the scraps to create this beautiful set of everyday greeting cards.  They can be used for any occasion.  All dies are from Penny Black.  I do think they are cards to "Die Cut" for!

BetterPress Christmas - $35
Thursday, October 17
10:30 am OR 6 pm

We had a BetterPress LetterPress promotion in the spring and quite a few of you purchased them.  They are an amazing accessory for your die cut machines.  The press plates used with them can also be used in the Glimmer Machine by Spellbinders if you have one.  Anyway.....  Lisa has created 4 beautiful Christmas cards using press plates from Memory Box, Hero Arts, and Spellbinders.  The cards are simple and elegant.  You'll know how it all works by the time you have completed this class.  If you have not gotten a BetterPress LetterPress system, you'll definately want one when you see how easy and beautiful the images are!

Technique Tags - $35
Thursday, October 24
10:30 am  OR 6 pm

At the time of this post, Lisa had not completed the technique tags she will be teaching.  With all the new products and techniques, she felt it was time to do another class.  That and a few people were asking for it!  You will learn some new and brush up on some old techniques that can be done with new products. Each tag you make will have printed instructions to go along with it. You'll go home with lots of new ideas.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, October 26
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Exactly!  Photo to come....  Both Lisa and I are working on a spread and whoever finishes first will teach.  Technically it's Lisa's turn, but we both have ideas so hang tight and we'll see what happens.  As usual, this class is our bargain class and you only need a basic kit and your art journal or substrate (fancy word for "what you want to work on").

TBA - $35
TUESDAY, October 29
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Lisa has one more class up her sleeve for October.  AND NO, Tuesday, October 29 is not a typo.  Mark and Lisa's anniversary is the 31st and of course it's also Halloween so they want to celebrate AND watch the 2 littles have some Halloween fun.  Stay tuned for details to come.

That's about it for now.  I'll do a blog update and probably an email update when the class information and photos are available.  And here is a little more you need to know about classes.....

Classes

It was a great day in the neighborhood Saturday for Preview Day.  Lisa's classes were a hit and we had a record crowd in attendance.  There were so many things going on.  Of course we had our FREE Make 'n Take pictured here.....

Stamps by Catherine Pooler... Thanks by Memory Box.  Ink Pad colors by Catherine Pooler.  This stamp set has so many possibilities.  If you have time, stop by the store to see 4 more samples.  Our friend Cherri created the samples and the Make 'n Take for us.

Lisa has created 4 card classes for us for September.  It's definately card making season with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on the horizon.  We have Lauren Bear returning by request to teach Art Journal Saturday as well.  Take a look at the schedule.  I think you'll find a class you really need to take!

Boo to You! - $35
Thursday, September 5
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Oh my goodness!  This is just the cutest Halloween card class I have seen in a while.  Stamps and dies from Penny Black are just perfect, paper from Simple Stories called Simple Vintage Scary Stories and an embossing folder from Memory Box work together to create the perfect set.  You'll get to continue sharpening your watercoloring skills too!

Autumn Breezes - $35
Thursday, September 12
10:30 am OR 6 pm

The stamps used in this collection of Fall themed cards are so elegant.  Penny Black never fails us when it comes to this element.  These cards are perfect for any occasion.  You will be proud to send them to friends or family.

More Alcohol Ink Fun - $35
Thursday, September 19
10:30 am OR 6 pm

The August Alcohol Ink Fun class was such a hit that Lisa and I thought you might want to continue the fun and sharpen your skills a little bit more.  Repetition is the key to mastering this medium.  Each of these cards will be unique and Lisa has used a large percentage of the brand new Tim Holtz alcohol ink colors from Ranger.  You won't be disappointed.

Winter Wonder - $35

Penny Black hit it out of the ballpark with this collection of winter/Christmas themed group of stamps and dies.  Look closely at the "Hope" card...  That is a new holographic cardstock we now carry in gold, silver and red.  There are endless possibilities for it.  Once again, the elegance shines in all of these cards.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, September 28

Back by popular demand, Lauren Bear will be here to teach this wonderful art journal page.  This is a front/back page that is cleverly put together.  The photo does not do it justice.  You'll have lots of fun with this one and Lauren is certainly a helpful and patient teacher.  We all love to make art with Lauren whenever we can!

We have so much on the schedule in September.  I hope you'll be able to join us for all the fun.  If you have not seen these classes in person, do stop by for a visit and let me or Lisa show them to you.  Here are a few details you need to know.....

August 2024

Class Schedule

Preview Day was a blast.  Have I said that before?  I bet I have.  It was raining when we opened, but that didn't stop anyone from coming.  We had a crowd from the beginning. Lisa was unable to be with us and Adona was also off.  Tammy stepped in for Adona, my friend Sharon stepped in for Lisa in the morning and our friend Cherri stepped in for Lisa in the afternoon.  While none of them are Lisa or Adona, all went well and I hope they will be happy to sub in again.  We missed Lisa, but I must say those girls all stepped up to the plate with style and I was glad to have them!

I forgot to get a picture of the Make 'n Take but I will post one on Facebook.   We used a cute watermelon stamp and die from Atenew that coordinated well with a 12x12 watermelon paper from Echo Park.

Lisa's class schedule for August is very nice.  We had hoped our fall paper from Echo Park would arrive in time  to create an Autumn class, but that's OK because the classes we do have are outstanding.  Several of the classes are getting full, so don't wait if you want to take them.

Here's the schedule.....

Cups & Blooms - $35
Thursday, August 1
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Penny Black recently released a new batch of stamps and dies.  Lisa has used the teacups and several of the floral stamps to create these cards.  You get to practice your watercolor techniques in this class and you'll love the results.  The teacups have a vintage style but the vivid colors used give it a wonderful non-vintage feel. These cards are perfect for any occasion.

"My Friends and I" - $35
Thursday, August 8
10:30 OR 6 pm

Megan Quinlan had a popup shop recently with ArtFoamies.  We have a special arrangement to be able to purchase these foamies for the store to sell.  We love Megan's art journals and the foamies are created from fun images in her art journals.  These cards remained unfinished at the time this schedule was published because we discovered too late that the papers Lisa chose are no longer available. Soooooo..... we ordered other papers which are on the way.  We expect them to be here and the cards completed by August 1st.  I'll replace this picture as soon as that happens but you might want to enroll as soon as possible because this class is already filling fast!

Moonlit Garden Envelope Folio
Thursday, August 15
10:30 am OR 6 pm

49 and Market has a beautiful collection called Moonlit Garden.  It has a lovely vintage feel that uses beautiful images of birds, butterflies and flowers.  This sweet folio is made using envelopes and has a variety of uses.  There is a fold in flap on both the front and back cover that would be perfect for a large photo. The back side of the flap has a pocket.  The pages under the flaps have a fun pocket made from heavy acetate that would be sweet with a photo and keepsakes tucked inside.  This little folio could be the perfect traveling brag book!

Hedgehog Wild - $35
Thursday, August 22
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Penny Black is known for their hedgehog images and they just released the cutest stamp set of hedgies for birthday and all occasion.  Who doesn't love a hedgehog?  Lisa has combined these images with bright colors and you'll have cards that will work for all ages!  She's also used a variety of new dies and embossing folders from Penny Black.  You'll love making these cards for everyone on your card list!

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, August 24
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Yep!  WIP (work in progress).  It's Maura's turn to teach and it is sooo close to being finished.  The sample should be ready for the public by Saturday, July 27 which is July's Art Journal Saturday and I'll update the photo as soon as possible.  However, what you see in this picture are the elements being used.  We'll make watercolor stamped tissues for several parts of this spread, magazine images, window envelopes (start saving some!) and stenciling.  It's going to be fun!

That's the schedule for now.... Lisa says there is a Fall and a Technique Tag Class coming soon so get ready for that in early September.  Here are a few more things you need to know about classes.

jUNE 16 2024

July 2024

Class Schedule

I can't believe that it is time to publish the July Class Schedule!  This year is passing by so quickly.  Anyhoo..... what a great Preview Day!  Even though it was Father's Day weekend and June is a heavy vacation month, we were pretty busy.  The FREE Make 'n Take was a hit.  Check it out!

We used 3 stamp sets and a die set from Impression Obsession to create the card.  Cherri made the sample and she did a great job!  Lisa always does a wonderful job guiding everyone.  She is an outstanding teacher and I think she is so patient and helpful.  I hope you'll be excited to take one or all of her classes in July!

The July schedule is a little more relaxed than usual.  We won't have a class the week of the 4th of July because, guess what?!  Thursday that week IS the 4th of July!  And we will have had 2 classes the week before so I think that says it all!  LOL  So here is the July schedule.....

Independence Day Holiday
Thursday, July 4th
Store closed on Thursday
No class this week

All About the "Bees" -  $35
Thursday, July 11
10:30 am OR 6 pm

Oh my gosh!  We found the cutest stamp set as well as stencils from Impression Obsession.  It really sparked Lisa's creativity and then she found a stamp set from Catherine Pooler and grabbed that limited edition bee stamp from IndigoBlu to create the cutest set of cards ever...  I think the die on the card at the back of the photo is from Altenew but I'll know for sure when Lisa gives the the list of products used so I can make sure we have it in stock by the time class rolls around!

Floral Variety - $35
Thursday, July 18th
10:30 am OR 6 pm

You know Lisa has a "thing" for flower and birds.  This card class really does show off that love.  New stamps from Penny Black, Altenew and Impression Obsession round out this collection.  The wreath die is from Impression Obsession as well.  AND if you look closely, you can see Tim Holtz's new "tape" stickers in there too!

Alcohol Ink Fun - $35
Thursday, July 25
10:30 am OR 6 pm

It's been a while since Lisa pulled out the alcohol inks, but I think now is the time!  Lot's of fun techniques here!  We have 3 dies from Memory Box and a stamp/die set from Hero in this class along with a fun stencil (which I can't quite identify as I write this! hee! hee!).  Alcohol Inks are such an interesting product and really quite fun to use.  I think you'll enjoy making these cards and learning a few different ways to use this artform for cards.

Art Journal Saturday - $20
Saturday, July 27
9 am OR 1:30 pm

Two pics for you of such a fun spread!  Lisa will be teaching this one.  There's a little house that opens up to a pocket that can hold anything you want.  This spread features ArtFoamies in very interesting ways.  We'll have plenty of other size trees for you to choose from if you're using a smaller journal, but you can certainly use the big tree in different ways in smaller books as well.
