I am so excited to have Dina Wakley return to teach.  That's Dina above in her natural element....  her studio and yes, she is just that joyful.  I enjoy her relaxed style of teaching.  She is generous and so knowledgeable about art. Take one or take all the classes.  You will learn so much and she will have you creating art you never thought you could create.  Dina will bring almost all of the art supplies you will be using.  Supplies you will need to bring are listed with each class.

A HANDMADE BOARD JOURNAL

Join Dina for a class that goes back to her mixed media roots: book making. We will make a handmade board journal that is rich with layers and textures. We'll stamp and write and create a piece of book art that tells a unique story from page to page.  Lots of mixed media fun and expression will go into every page. Techniques, texture, this book has it all. 

Please bring:  Ranger craft sheet, palette paper, assortment of paint brushes (Dina Wakely brushes recommended) and a small notebook and pen for note taking.   Dina will supply all art supplies needed and MHF will supply additional supplies for each table to share.

Exploring the Versatility of Acrylic Paint

Acrylic paint is one of the most versatile mediums you can use.  Come to this painting class where you will learn how to use acrylic paint both thick (impasto) and thin (watercolor).  The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play and make finished journal pages.  We'll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.) We'll make printed papers and then incorporate them into lovely journal compositions.

Please bring:  Ranger craft sheet, palette paper, assortment of paint brushes (Dina Wakley recommended),  your art journal and a small notebook and pen for making notes.  Dina will provide all art supplies needed and MHF will supply additional supplies for each table to share.

FINDING JOY IN ABSTRACTION

Join Dina for an exploration in abstract painting.  Abstract painting might seem random, but it is based in composition and color theory.  The skills you learn will be useful whether you later use them for backgrounds or as stand-alone abstract pieces.  We will work on boards to create interesting foundations and looks with our acrylic paints and other mixed media supplies.  After we've practiced, we'll create a canvas.  The end result will be gorgeous multi-layered paintings.  Bring your journal, too, for practicing and taking notes.  We will have lots of messy, artistic fun!

Please bring: Ranger craft sheet, assortment of paint brushes (Dina Wakley recommended), palette paper, a tub of white gesso (Dina Wakley recommended), your art journal and a small notebook and pen for note taking. Dina will supply all other art supplies needed and MHF will supply additional supplies for each table to share.

Playing With Images and Concepts

Most great artists take one idea - a color, a concept, an image - and use it many ways in their work.  This repetition of ideas and images is artistically valuable. It creates work that has depth and interest, and helps you grow as an artist. Come to this class and we will choose our symbols and ideas, and then we'll work in a series to create interesting artworks.  We will make six expressive and playful small works on canvas boards.  The pieces will look great on their own but will even more powerful together. 

Please bring:  Ranger craft sheet, palette paper, assortment of brushes (Dina Wakley recommended), your art journal and a small notebook and pen for note-taking.  Dina will provide all other art supplies needed and MHF will supply additional supplies for each table to share.
